Chapter 445
Daron had been ousted as CEO of the Zamora Group.
Rumors were flying everywhere.
The Campbell family, one of those elite clans, had their own share of predictable opinions.

If Daron didn’t show up, the Campbell family was likely to grow suspicious. And in the future, they would probably take that into account when deciding how to treat Elnora.
After all, couples like them, who married for the sake of family interests, always cared more about the value their families brought to the table.
It would be ideal if Daron could arrive in Port City before dinner.
Even if he couldn’t, Elnora would understand.
But if Daron did show up in Port City, the Campbell family would also have a different attitude.
Marina looked down, glancing at Daron, who was seated in his office chair, and said in a gentle voice, “Then I’ll have to trouble you.”
Daron’s new company was just in its infancy, and with Matthew’s obstruction thrown into the mix, the pressure to achieve rapid development was already immense.
Yet, at this very moment, Daron still chose to divert some of his attention to accompany Marina to Port City. That truly showed his thoughtfulness and dedication.
Daron reached out and gently pulled Marina into his embrace.
Marina sat on Daron’s lap, and Daron spoke in a low, husky voice right next to her, “I can always make time if I really want
to.”
Marina wrapped her arms around Daron’s neck and rested her head against his chest.
“Thanks for everything,” she whispered.
Daron replied, “Don’t say that. Having you by my side makes it all worthwhile.”
As he spoke, Daron leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to Marina’s forehead.
Marina tilted her head up, and just as she was about to kiss him back, a knock sounded at the door.
She paused for a moment, then quickly planted a kiss on Daron’s cheek before swiftly rising from his embrace.
“Come in,” Daron said.
After being interrupted twice in a row, Daron was getting pretty annoyed.
Garret stood at the doorway, momentarily taken aback when he noticed Daron’s agitated tone.
‘Who pissed him off today?‘ Garret wondered.
As Garret pushed the door open, Marina was walking out of Daron’s office.

“Hey, Marina, Garret greeted her with a grin.
Marina smiled warmly at Garret and said, “You guys carry on with your work. I’ll head back first.”

Garret nodded, a bit stunned, then glanced up at Daron. Seeing Daron’s sour expression, he instantly got the picture.
He walked over and dropped the files on Daron’s desk, grinning. “Sorry, Daron, didn’t mean to interrupt your date with Marina.”
Daron raised his gaze and shot Garret a sharp look.
“If you knew you were interrupting, what are you doing here?” he snapped.
Garret smiled and said, “Can’t you see? I’m messing with you on purpose. Why on earth did you give up your position as the president of Zamora Group and hand it over to Martin?
“If you were still the president of Zamora Group, you wouldn’t have to hide out in your office just to have a little romance with your girl.”
Daron glanced up at him and replied coolly, “At the Zamora Group, the money we’ve worked so hard to earn outside is being shared among a large group of people. All they have to do is utter a few words, and they can receive substantial dividends.
“But with our own company, every penny we earn goes straight into our pockets. Isn’t that way better?”
Garret froze for a few seconds, then sucked in a sharp breath.
“So that’s your plan,” he said.
Daron said, “Back then, we were just working for other people. Now we’re working for ourselves, and now Martin’s basically working for us too. Isn’t that great?”
Garret nodded. “Absolutely.”
Daron looked over the documents Garret handed him, signed his name, and slid them back across the desk.
“Give it your all,” he said. “Let’s make sure we beat Zamora Group in three years.”
Garret nodded, looking totally fired up as he said, “Let’s beat Martin as soon as we can!”
With that, Garret took the documents from Daron and walked out.
Just as he reached the door, Garret poked his head back in and whispered, “Hey, Daron, if Martin can’t hold it together and the second branch of the Zamora family wants you to come back, would you go?”
Daron smirked. “Of course I’d go back.”
‘However, when the time comes, I’ll be the one calling the shots on the rules of the game, Daron thought to himself.
Hearing that, Garret grinned wickedly and said, “I knew I backed the right horse.”
The next day, Marina caught an early flight to Port City.
By the time she left, Daron had already headed to the office.
Before boarding, Marina sent Daron a quick message.

At Cloudstorm Group, Daron was in the conference room, listening as the planning manager presented the latest project mplementation report. Just then, a message from Marina popped up on his phone.
Daron had turned off silent mode on his phone, which was placed on the side of the conference table.
His phone screen lit up, and with a casual glance, he saw it was a message from Marina. He then reached for it almost nstinctively.
The planning manager was still presenting his report.
Daron glanced down and replied to Marina’s message.
Cara was the one taking minutes for this meeting.
When she saw Daron texting with his head down, while the other department heads kept sneaking curious glances at him, Cara felt a bit displeased.
he cleared her throat quietly, hoping to draw Daron’s attention back to work.
But Daron didn’t even lift his eyes from his phone. Instead, he said in a low voice, “I’m listening. Go on.”
The planning manager carried on with the report.
Daron was glued to his phone for a solid two minutes before he finally put it down.
But every so often, he’d still pick it up again to see if anyone had messaged him.
Seeing Daron in this state, Zara felt a pang of bitterness.
Most of the staff at the new company were people who’d stuck with Daron for years, and they were all seriously talented.
Zara had been doing her best lately to build good relationships with them.
Whenever she caught up with them off the clock, she’d hear stories about how intense Daron could get when he was vorking.
from the way the higher–ups were acting today, Zara could tell Daron was the type who’d never even glance at his phone in neetings before.
But today, he kept checking his phone again and again, obviously waiting for someone to text him back.
As for who was on the other end, Zara had a rough idea. ‘It’s likely Marina,’ she thought. ‘Only Marina can capture Daron’s attention to the extent that he will divert his focus during a meeting to reply to her messages.
After the meeting, Daron headed back to his office.
Zara wasted no time. She grabbed her meeting notes and went straight to Daron’s office.
She knocked and pushed the door open, only to see Daron sitting in his chair, speaking softly on the phone with Marina.
The tenderness in his expression was so striking that it stung Zara to see it.
From the other end of the line, Marina seemed to say something, to which Daron responded with a faint “mm–hmm” before setting the phone aside.
The moment he looked up, Zara couldn’t help but freeze.
