Chapter 146 The Call from Abroad

Sean immediately called back. Tracy glanced at Felix, shook her phone, and said, “Excuse me, I need to take this call.”
Once outside, Tracy answered. Sean’s voice, devoid of emotion, came through. “I heard the voice message you retracted. Are you with Felix?”
Tracy glanced at the scenery outside. “Yes. He came over while we were eating and asked to share the table, so we had dinner together.”
He heard it even though I retracted it in a few seconds. I feel completely awkward now. Is Sean that idle? He must be glued to his phone to catch messages, and this embarrassing scene happened. Her scalp felt tight.
Sean suddenly said, “He seems quite concerned about you.”
The hand holding the phone felt slightly numb. Tracy switched hands. “Really? You didn’t call just to ask me about this, did you?”
There was a moment of silence, then he said, “Stay away from him. Don’t get too close to him.”
Tracy wanted to ask why, but the line had already disconnected. She found Sean utterly inexplicable. She and Felix had just met today; they weren’t even friends. Yet, he specifically called to tell her to keep her distance from him. That was very confusing. What exactly does he mean by that?
It was soon time to return to Northport. Sam told Tracy to rest for a day before coming back to work. Tracy, however, felt she had rested enough. After the exhibition, she felt a sense of urgency, and her mind was buzzing with fragmented inspiration.
She and Sam returned to Vector together. They held a meeting for several hours, brainstorming Tracy’s new ideas. Everyone was so engaged that they didn’t want to interrupt their progress for a meal, so they ate lunch right there in the conference room while continuing their discussion.
Seeing everyone’s high motivation, Tracy was satisfied. She chatted with them until closing time. Sam suggested they all go out for dinner, but Tracy thought of her grandmother still in the hospital and declined.
Leaving the company, she called her grandmother. It took a long time for the other end to pick up. Tracy. are you back from your business trip?”
Tracy sat down in her car. “Yes, Grandma. Are you still at the hospital? I just got off work. I’m coming e you now. Is there anything you want to eat? I’ll bring it on the way.”
By her count, she hadn’t seen her grandmother in a few days. It was time to visit.

The other end was silent for a moment. Then, she said, “Tracy, I was discharged today. I’m at home now. Are you still coming? Yvonne has a cold, and the whole family went to take care of her, so they aren’t
home.”
Tracy had initially planned to decline, but her grandmother mentioned she was just discharged, yet everyone had gone to care for the sick Yvonne. A sense of profound sorrow rose from the pit of her stomach. Yvonne was so precious that everyone had to cater to her, yet no one cared about her

grandmother’s well–being.
At this thought, Tracy started her car. “Grandma, wait for me. I’m coming right over.”

Sometimes, she really couldn’t understand. She hadn’t grown up in the Xander family, so it was understandable if they weren’t close to her. But her grandmother? Her grandmother had worked tirelessly for this family her entire life. What had she gotten in return?
A deep sadness washed over her. Perhaps the Xander family truly had no heart. They only cared about what they believed was right. She remembered when she was little, before her parents divorced, they weren’t like this. Everything changed after Faye and her daughter came into the house. Aside from her grandmother, everyone else in the Xander family was manipulated by the mother and daughter and had lost the ability to distinguish right from wrong.
Tracy drove to the Xander family’s villa. Her grandmother and Linda were waiting outside. When Tracy’s car stopped, Linda pushed Madam Sarah over.
Seeing Tracy, Madam Sarah smiled warmly. “Tracy, you must be tired after working all day. It’s hot outside. I had Linda prepare your favorite dishes. Let’s go in and eat!”
Tracy smiled. “That sounds great, Grandma. Thank you for thinking of me.”
She walked to the back of Madam Sarah’s wheelchair. Linda went in first, and Tracy pushed Madam Sarah nside.
The smell of food filled the dining room. Tracy realized she was hungry. Just as Madam Sarah said, no one else from the Xander family was home. The spacious villa felt empty with just the elderly woman and Linda.
The thought that those people had abandoned her grandmother right after her discharge to care for ivonne made Tracy feel indignant on her grandmother’s behalf.
Tracy served Madam Sarah a piece of meat. “Grandma, why did Yvonne suddenly get sick?”
Her grandmother had no one to look after her while she was sick, and no one was present when she was lischarged. Is this the fate of a widowed elderly person?
Madam Sarah sighed. “I don’t know the details. Your aunt took a call and said Yvonne was sick.”
‘She just said Yvonne caught a chill and now has a fever and a cold. She was taken to the hospital.”
