So that’s what happened!

Yvonne was constantly causing drama, always stirring up trouble one way or another. But the Xander family always sided with her, which only fueled her willful behavior. Three grown men in the Xander family being manipulated by two women–it was quite pathetic.
The grandmother and granddaughter soon finished their meal. Tracy didn’t have much of an appetite, but she finished everything Madam Sarah had served her.
Linda went to clean up. Madam Sarah took Tracy’s hand. Perhaps because she was newly discharged, her voice was slightly hoarse.
“Tracy, last time I spoke to you about bringing that person you like home, did you mention it to him?”
Tracy froze for a few seconds before realizing what she meant. She crouched down to look at Madam Sarah eye–to–eye. “Grandma, let’s not rush. How old am I? Are you already wishing I’d get married?”
The truth is, my relationship with Sean hasn’t reached the dating stage. If I brought him back, my cover would be blown. Besides, given his status, why would he come home with me to meet my grandmother? Thinking it over, she realized something was amiss. Why had Sean been the first person she thought of when her grandmother mentioned the person she liked? Why didn’t I think of Chandler? What’s going on?
Madam Sarah patted the back of Tracy’s hand. “You know I just want to see you settled down well. Only then can I truly rest easy.”
Madam Sarah’s health was deteriorating day by day. How long she could last was unknown. She only hoped that in her lifetime, she could see her beloved granddaughter settled down with a good man. Preferably, she wanted to vet him herself. After all, she had seen countless people in her life and could judge a person instantly. She worried that if she passed away, no one would be left to vet prospective partners for Tracy. The thought made her heart ache. The Xander family members were worthless, driven only by self–interest. They couldn’t be relied upon.
Tracy nodded. “Mm, I know. I’ll tell him soon. When the time comes, you absolutely have to help me vet him properly.”
She heard the sadness in her grandmother’s voice and couldn’t bear to refuse the elderly woman, so she had to agree. She just didn’t know if Sean would be willing to meet her grandmother. As for the rest of the Xander family, they didn’t need to meet him. She wanted to avoid causing trouble that would be difficult to clean up. Hiding her identity was primarily about keeping it from the Xander family. She knew the entire family’s disposition too well–a bunch of greedy, self–serving opportunists. For the sake of profit. they would sacrifice anything.
Madam Sarah had just been discharged and was low on energy. After chatting for a while, she started to get drowsy. Once her grandmother fell asleep, Tracy went downstairs.
Seeing her descend, Linda hesitated before speaking. “Don’t mind me for speaking out of turn, but your grandmother’s health is getting worse. Sometimes she falls asleep even while eating. Her condition fluctuates, and everyone else is rarely home. The lady of the house doesn’t care about your grandmother at all; she only cares about shopping and getting beauty treatments. If something were to happen to her, and there’s no one here to be by her side at the end, how utterly desolate that would be.”

Chapter 147 A Somber Truth

At this, Linda choked up slightly and continued, “If you have time, please come back and spend more time with her. She only smiles when she sees you. I know you don’t want to come back because of your bad relationship with the rest of the family, but she genuinely cares about you. Please, for her sake, come back more often to keep her company. Elderly people need their children and grandchildren around them.”
Madam Sarah had forbidden her from revealing the true severity of her illness, but Linda felt genuinely sorry for her. If all elderly widows ended up like Madam Sarah, their later years would be utterly miserable. Everyone in the Xander family was somewhat blinded to the truth, but Tracy was sensible, and Madam Sarah was very fond of her. So, Linda was hinting, hoping Tracy would spend more time with Madam Sarah. This way, even if Madam Sarah passed away quietly, it wouldn’t be quite so desolate.
Tracy grasped Linda’s hand and asked anxiously, “Linda, do you know about Grandma’s illness? Please tell me.” Hearing Linda’s words, her heart sank. A feeling of dread rose up inside her.
Linda shook her head, wiping away a tear. “She forbade me to say anything. Please don’t put me in a difficult position. I just hope that while she is alive, you can spend more time with her. It would make her very happy. You don’t know how often she mentions you when you’re not here. She says the Xander family ɔwes you and your mother, and she wants to repay you for their failings. She really cares about you. She wishes she could give you everything good in the world. Please come back and see her more often.”
