Thinking of Tracy’s robber–like behavior, Hailey felt a little scared. If she used some other reason to threaten her again, her money would end up in Tracy’s pocket. Her scalp tingled at the very thought.
Renee shielded Hailey behind her, then glared fiercely at Tracy. “Tracy, stop threatening my mom. My mom is afraid of you, but I’m not. Everyone will be here today. Don’t even think about bullying the two of us. Someone like you can’t even afford a lawyer, yet you still have the nerve to come here and embarrass yourself. What? You can’t live without a man? Now you know that you can’t get anywhere after leaving my brother, right?”
She didn’t know what dirt Tracy had on her mom; she just knew she couldn’t let her mom be bullied by Tracy. This woman’s scheming was too deep. She targeted them on one hand while desperately trying to get close to her brother on the other. She had heard about what happened in Sea City, Tracy pretended to cut ties with them completely, but behind their backs, she was trying to throw herself into her brother’s arms. How shameless!
Tracy sneered. “My business is no trouble for you to worry about, Miss Gaunt. You should worry about yourself. After all, you are the main character today. If things don’t go well, you’ll be going inside to cat prison food. If the situation is a little worse, and you end up with a criminal record, that’s no laughing matter. Wouldn’t you agree?”
