Chapter 162 A Convenient Accident

The sarcasm at the corner of Renee’s mouth grew more obvious. “Look, my lawyer is here. Tracy, why isn’t your lawyer here yet? Don’t tell me he’s not coming? It’s almost time for the hearing. Your lawyer isn’t planning to stand you up, is he? If I remember correctly, you were pretty arrogant at the entrance just now. Not so arrogant anymore, are you?”
The lawyer still hadn’t arrived by this point; he probably wasn’t coming. Just the thought of Tracy having no chance of winning put her in a great mood. It seemed the rumors were true: Tracy and Sean really had a falling out. The mood she had suppressed for so long could finally be vented. It was great! This time, she would definitely teach Tracy an unforgettable lesson, preferably nailing her to the pillar of shame, the kind she could never recover from.
Tracy’s lips curled into a cold smile. “It’s not time yet, is it? You’re jumping to conclusions so quickly. When you get slapped in the face later, don’t cry. After all, you’re the one offering your face. If I don’t slap
t, it would seem I’m letting you down.”
This idiot loved the spotlight so much, she couldn’t be blamed for slapping her face. She trusted her awyer; he would definitely come. She had seen enough of the Gaunt family’s hypocrisy over the years. If It didn’t involve her own innocence, she wouldn’t even want to deal with them.
Renee snorted coldly. “Still acting tough when you’re about to die. I’d like to see how long you can keep it up.”
Dropping this line, Renee turned to greet Chandler and the others.
‘Hello, Mr. Foster. You’ve come as well.” Renee greeted them one by one.
Foster shook Renee’s hand and said, “Hello. Your brother has already told me about your situation. I am confident I can win this case.”
Chandler glanced in Tracy’s direction. Seeing she was still alone, he retracted his gaze. Of course the lawsuit would be won, because he estimated the lawyer wouldn’t be able to come today.
On the lawyer’s side, he had packed all the prepared evidence and was driving toward the courthouse,
But while passing a traffic light, he was hit by an electric scooter that suddenly darted out. He saw it clearly: the person on the scooter had run the red light. He was driving normally; it was the scooter that had suddenly crashed into him.
When he pushed the door open to get out, the person on the ground was covered in blood and had already lost consciousness.
The lawyer was a bit stunned. He raised his hand to look at his watch. It was 8:30. It was still possible to make it to the courthouse in ten minutes. But he had just hit someone. If he waited until this matter was handled, it would definitely be too late.
Just as he was thinking, a man ran over from nearby. When he saw the person lying in a pool of blood, he began to wail, “You actually hit my brother! Hurry up and pay for a private settlement, or I’ll call the police and have you arrested.”
There was a car accident, and the family member’s first concern wasn’t the victim’s safety or injuries, but

demanding compensation.

This wasn’t the first time Lawyer Qin had encountered this kind of crash–for–cash scam, but the matter was urgent, and he couldn’t worry about that now.
He took a pen and paper from his pocket and quickly scribbled down his contact information. He then handed it to the man. “I have an urgent matter to deal with right now. This is my contact information. Take him to the hospital first. I will pay every cent of the compensation that is due later, alright?”
The man took the note and tore it to shreds. “Who knows if you’re trying to pull a fast one? I don’t know you. Why should I trust you?”
The time reached 8:50. The people at the courthouse had all arrived, and even many spectators had come.
However, the lawyer still had not arrived.
The spectators were all on Chandler’s side, eager for Tracy to lose the case. After all, they could still distinguish between their own people and outsiders.
When Quincy arrived, she saw Tracy’s side was deserted. She was all alone, without even a lawyer.
She walked closer to Tracy, sneering, “Well, well, Tracy. Are you this poor now? You can’t even afford a lawyer? Tsk tsk, how pitiful. You should have said something earlier. If you had, I would have given you some money, at least to hire an audience or something. It’s better than you sitting here all alone, looking so pathetic, don’t you think?”
Last time, Tracy had sent her to the police station. She had been worrying that she’d never get a chance for revenge. Seeing Tracy looking like an abandoned clown today put her in a great mood. Last time, Tracy had relied on her relationship with Sean to target them. Now, hearing that Sean was ignoring Tracy, that woman had naturally lost her value. A woman who has lost her value will never be respected by a man. That was something Tracy would never understand.
Tracy ignored Quincy’s words. Just a mad dog. She wouldn’t take it to heart.
