I don’t, but it doesn’t look pleasa
I reach out for some water. I take a moutful to dean my mouth out I spin the water in my mouth, then try to keep i spinning as I swallow. It doesn’t but it does feel range, and a it goes deeper into my body, it begins to get warm. It stops feeling foreign and starts feeling like a part of my body. Once it breaks, it falls in with the rest of the water in me, and the spinning corns into a very unpleasant sensation My been begins to palpitate, and my body wants nothing more than to go in the way the spinning is going
“Hey!” Ragnar drops in front of me. “Stop, stop”
That was not pleasant I say, focused on the way my body feels as it slows and then goes back to normal.
“Are you okay? he looks me over as if the harm were vible.
‘I don’t want to do that to you I gh
“Sophie-” he begins to protest.
Stop I can’t I shake my head. He drops his hands and looks around When I raise my cup to take a drink he snatches it out of my hand and walks back to the water to rinse it out. You could have just asked
“Spit in here,” he says, holding the cup out. I gather some spit I spit upwards and give the spit a little push so it lands in the cup. “Did you do that with your affinity?”
No, that was just luck, I laugh
He grins and motions for me to spin the water. I reach out and with ease spin it inside the cup. It shakes in his hand as he tries to put the lid on it. Once he screws it back on her looks up at me with a cheeky smile.
Now I’ll go for a run with this. We’ll see how far I can get, he unirks
“All right, I agree. “Here”

Chapter 154
“It’s a habit from my mortal days,” I smile.
He tips my chin, trying to make me feel better. He turns away and takes off in a jog. It takes a while after he disappears for me to have to focus a little more. After a good eight minutes, I start to feel the distance. Ten minutes and I’m barely hanging on. When it hits the twelve–minute mark, my affinity releases the water on its own. I gasp for air as if I had been the one running.
-There.- I inform him.
-Damn, that is a hell of a reach, baby.- he laughs. -Let’s go.”
It takes him seconds to get back. I laugh when he cheers the moment he sees me.
“That was insane. It felt like I was just going to keep going after I hit four hundred yards”
“Do you think it’s different in a body, or do you think it’s different because my presence in Ana has been leaving her body as the days go by? Maybe eventually it’ll fade. Right? That is an insane distance.”
“Six hundred and eighty–seven yards can be a little intimidating. We can call Ana down here, and you can try with her body. I’m sure she’d like nothing more than to kiss you ass right now.”
“I’m serious. It doesn’t feel good,” I shake my head. “I was really upset the first time. I had just found out we were mates and I was really confused.”
“Listen, it’s taken a whole lot for me not to blast her in the face. I get it,” he shrugs and pulls out his phone. “This is important, and I think we’re going to have to let her in on this anyway. If what is happening is true, we all have a common enemy, and we don’t know what we’re dealing with.”
“There is no if. It’s happening. Fuck,” I sit down again. “I don’t understand this. None of it. I swear it feels like we’re winging it. It’s been one thing after another with these files, and now they seem obsolete. None of our questions has been answered. We have a million times more than we started.”
“I know it seems like a lot, right now,” he says quietly as he sits beside me.
“How are you not freaking out?” I ask him.
“Honestly, I pushed to come of age faster so that I can be out there with my Dad. There will always be a threat. Someone is always going to say something stupid that can potentially start a war. There will always be a fight to be fought. You get used to it.”
“That’s an insane way to live,” I admit.
“Yeah, but it’s in our nature and theirs. This might be the first time the Kings aren’t focused on killing one another in ever,” he lets out a heavy breath. “It feels like shit because we have no idea what’s going on, but in the very least, we now know that something is going on and we can work to fix it.”
“The Kings have to be alive, right? They need fresh blood to keep turning into them. Where do you think they’d hide two big idiots like that? They emit a shit ton of power the way you do. They can’t keep them together. We’d have disturbances in that location.”
“When you got inside the compound, did you see or scent any wildlife?” he asks. “Fangs said something about it being too quiet, but I was a little preoccupied trying to keep a feel on our bond.”
“I was focused on the princess. I was running plans and formations in my mind in case we had to fight. I was also over analyzing everything. It was my first recon mission.”
“You did great, he bumps me playfully.

Chapter 154
“I didn’t notice. I did, however, notice that the one pretending to be the Kogue King is younger than the corn pretezating, o be the Alpha King. We crossed paths, and he spun around to look at his surroundings.
“That’s not something a rogue tends to do ever. They run and try to get the upper hand on their wealant. They’re for for look–around types. Especially ones that are strong. That means”
“He’s a novice. A very powerful one, but a novice nonetheless. Good job, Soph. I love that you notice here than like that is there anything else?”
“Aurora is hiding something, but I don’t think it’s her intentions. I think she’s young and wants to learn how to toy better with people. She’s hiding her insecurities behind the bad–girl facade she wears. I fear you may be right and she’s excurciatingly babied.”
“Why do you fear that?
“Because I was, and I didn’t do so well when that lie was ripped right out from under me. You can ask the Romanos wher they found under that shell. Then there’s the part that knows that’s not the worst thing I’m going to have to do in the years to come. I hate to see that happen to her. When she looks at me, she looks so hopeful”
