Chapter 495
Hayley’s face was full of relief as she listened to Zara.
She pressed her cheek tightly against Zara’s and spoke gently. “I knew you wouldn’t give up so easily. One day, in a dire no one will ever dare to talk down to us again.”
Ever since the day she fainted, Zara had kept a low profile.
Even when Marina came to Cloudstorm Group, Zara would always make sure to greet her politely, just like any regular mat
member.
Her expression was genuine now, with no trace of pretense, and she deliberately kept her distance from Marina.
Zara acted the same way around Daron.
It was as if she were just another ordinary employee at Cloudstorm Group, and she no longer flaunted her connection to Daron to the other colleagues.
Garret couldn’t help but be surprised by Zara’s recent behavior.
Most people figured that after spending so many years with the Zamora family, Zara’s feelings for Daron had been growing over the years, and there was no way she’d get over him so quickly.
But who would’ve thought that Zara would change so completely?
She didn’t give herself away at all, acting like she was really over Daron now.
After the employee review, Zara managed to remain in Cloudstorm Group, all thanks to how hard she’d been grinding lately.
Of course, some folks got edged out. They were transferred to other departments.
When Zara spotted her photo and name on the list of staff in the executive office, she finally let out a huge sigh of relief.
Daron was relatively fair when it came to work.
At least he didn’t boot her just because of what happened before.
Durif’s 80th birthday party was fast approaching.
Hayley let Zara know ahead of time, inviting her to attend Durif’s birthday party together.
Zara had been making a real effort to fade into the background these days.
Since the Blanchard family hadn’t specifically invited her, there was no way she could just drop by like she used to.
So Zara declined Hayley’s invitation.
Hayley wasn’t happy about it at all.
“Zara, you’ve been keeping a low profile for long enough. It’s good not to draw too much attention, but you can’t just vanish from their sight. You need to make an appearance now and then if you want them to remember you,” Hayley said.
Zara replied right away, “Mom, that’s not it. I want them to feel a sense of distance between us.

Invit was bent on paving the way for Daron, so he kept introducing Daron to all sorts of big shots.
Every so often, Daron would turn away from the crowd to check on Marina. Spotting her with Elnora, looking calm and comfortable with plenty of people around them, he let out a quiet sigh of relief.
When Hayley attired, thora shipped away to the restroom for a moment.
When the stepped out again, she was already sporting the pink diamond ring on her finger.
Marina blinked in surprise when she caught sight of the pink diamond on Elnora’s hand. She asked in a low voice, “Elnora, why’d you bring that ring with you?”
Vinor just smiled, lifting her hand to show off the ring
Doesn’t it look perfect on me?” she asked.
Marma pressed her lips together.
No one knew the story behind that ring better than they did. It was a keepsake left behind by Wilhelmina.
Just as Marina was about to say something, she saw Hayley already watching them.
When Hayley caught sight of the ring on Elnora’s finger, her eyes widened for a split second, but she played it off like nothing happened, even though one could totally see the delight in her eyes.
Hayley had been so fed up lately, and now that she finally saw a chance to take Marina down a peg, she wasn’t about to let it slip by
Genny, who was always hanging around Hayley, was not only her close friend but also the neighborhood gossip queen.
Just a moment ago, Genny was asking Hayley why she moved out of the Zamora mansion.

Hayley had felt a little awkward answering at first, but now she just gave a wry smile and said, “Ever since Daron got married, I knew I’d have to leave the Zamora mansion sooner or later.
“After all, I’m not Daron’s biological mother, so it’s only natural his wife would feel uncomfortable having me around.
Genny blurted out in surprise, “Daron really got married? Who’s this girl with such a jealous streak? You’ve been taking care of Daron for over twenty years. How could Daron just watch you pack up and leave the Zamora mansion?”
Hayley let out a soft sigh and said, “Honestly, I was the one who chose to move out of the Zamora mansion. I didn’t want to put Daron in a tough spot.
“He’s had such an unlucky life. He lost his mom early, and he’s never been close to his dad. If he can finally have someone by his side who truly understands him and cares for him, all I want is for him to be happy.”
Genny frowned as she couldn’t help but ask again, “So, who’s the bride? Which family does she come from?”
Hayley didn’t mention Marina’s name. She just cast a meaningful glance toward Marina, letting her eyes do all the talking.
Genny and Hayley both loved collecting jewelry.
So when Genny followed Hayley’s gaze, her eyes landed right on that eye–catching pink diamond ring sparkling on Elnora’s finger.
Genny sucked in a sharp breath. “Is Daron’s bride Ms. Elnora?”
Hayley immediately shook her head.
Genny lowered her voice. “Then do you mean it’s her sister?”
Hayley finally gave a small nod, then quickly added, “Don’t breathe a word of this. Daron’s not ready to go public.”
When Genny heard that Daron’s wife was actually Marina, she instantly reached out and grabbed Hayley’s hand.
“Take a look at the ring on Elnora’s finger. Doesn’t it look familiar? Isn’t that one of Wilhelmina’s treasures? I remember you have the key to her collection room, right?” Genny asked.
Hayley just gave a resigned shake of her head.
“It’s not with me anymore,” she said.
Genny instantly got what Hayley meant and sucked in a sharp breath.
‘Marina’s got some nerve! She just took over the key to the collection room, and now she’s already letting her sister wear Wilhelmina’s keepsake,” Genny hissed.
‘Why didn’t you stop her? At this rate, she’s going to empty out all of Wilhelmina’s treasures. Those two are just trying to climb all over Daron and bleed him dry.”
Hayley just gave a bitter smile and shook her head, looking totally helpless.
