A slight crack appeared in Sean’s icy expression. He explained, “I was afraid Julie would keep raising the price last night, and I was even more afraid you wouldn’t be able to afford it. That’s why I bought it.”
Tracy hadn’t bid on anything all evening, yet she was clearly interested in this specific piece of pendant. He knew then that this pendant must be exceptionally meaningful to her.
So, when Julie deliberately raised the price to make things difficult for Tracy, he stepped in and bought it at a high price.
