After Elnora hung up, Elara, who was standing beside her, asked cautiously, “Was that Zack?”
Elnora nodded slightly, her expression barely changing.
Elara let out a little “tsk, her tone showing clear annoyance.
“What’s he trying to do?” she asked.
‘Seriously, Elnora’s already married. Why does he keep coming back and messing with her?’ Elara thought.
“And Mila too,” Elara scoffed, rolling her eyes.
“Seriously, those two are just nuts,” she muttered.
Elara had been swamped all morning, so she had no clue Mila had come to see Elnora.
She only found out about it when she was chatting with her coworkers earlier.
‘Seriously, those two went to all that trouble just to get married. Why can’t they just mind their own business and stay out of Elnora’s life?’ Elara grumbled to herself.
‘Do they really have to keep showing up just to mess with Elnora?’ she thought, feeling more and more annoyed.
Elnora looked totally unfazed, like nothing could shake her.
“Mila said she and Zack are divorced,” Elnora said. “Zack even gave the Gill family the main project in Sograla City, just so he could get the divorce.”
Elara sucked in a sharp breath, her expression shifting dramatically.
Kieran had been going head-to-head with Zack lately.
And now, at such a critical moment, Zack just hands over the main project in Sograla City to the Gill family, all for a divorce from Mila? Elara thought.
He’s totally lost it, she muttered to herself.
‘He must be crazy,” Elara said, shaking her head.
Honestly, I can’t think of any other explanation,’ she thought.
Back when the Finley Group was going through its toughest times, Zack never even thought about lending Elnora a hand.
Elnora, proud as she was, even swallowed her pride and asked him for help.
But Zack just shot her down without a second thought.
What did he even say when he turned her down?’ Elara thought.
‘He said, “Elnora, I believe in your abilities,” Elara scoffed.
He was always going on about how he believed in Elnora, but he never actually did anything to help her

And now, just to get a divorce from Mila, he’s pulling off this grand gesture, like he’s trying to prove how deeply he loves Elnora Honestly, it’s just laughable.
Elara thought there was nothing in the world more ridiculous than this.
Elnora stepped into her office, her tone calm and barely audible. “He’s gone to Craicaville.”
Elara raised an eyebrow, her tone dry. “Yeah right, is he off to Craicaville to turn the desert into an oasis or something?”
“That’s hilarious. Someone as indecisive as him? Please, like he could ever pull that off,” she scoffed.
Elnora just shook her head. “Who knows?”
Honestly, she couldn’t care less.
Even though Elnora looked indifferent, Elara could still hear the sadness in her voice.
‘Who wouldn’t feel a pang of regret?’ Elara thought.
After all, they’d been together for five years.
And with the two years Zack spent pursuing Elnora, that was seven years in total.
Their whole youth was wrapped up in this relationship.
And now it ended like this. Everyone sighed and felt sorry for them.
But honestly, Zack had it coming.
Elara didn’t feel the slightest bit of sympathy for Zack, but she found herself blurting out, “Elnora, do you actually hope he pulls it off?”
Elnora paused for a moment, then gave a small nod.
‘I hope he does,” she said quietly.
If the desert really became an oasis, it would make a huge difference for all living things.
Her hope for Zack’s success had nothing to do with their relationship.
She just wanted all living things to have another place to thrive.
Just as Albert stepped out of the elevator, he caught Elnora’s soft words, “I hope he does.”
Her voice was quiet, but there was something different about it, something that just felt off, and he couldn’t quite figure out what it was.
Albert stood there, frozen, not moving for a long moment.
Elnora closed her office door and sank into her chair.
Elara let out a soft sigh and shook her head, thinking. ‘Life really is unpredictable”
As she turned to head back to her desk, she found Albert standing behind her, not knowing when he’d appeared.
Elara jumped, but managed a nervous smile and greeted Albert first. “Mr Campbell”

“I was working with Ms Finley back when she and Zack were together. I’ve got the kind of inside info nobody else knows Elara said
“If you’re curious. Mr. Campbell, I can give you the inside scoop,” she added with a sly grin.
Albert could totally tell Elara was just trying to get under his skin.
He knew she was doing it on purpose.
Still. Albert couldn’t help but get annoyed.
Albert waved her off, cutting her short. “Enough, I don’t want to hear it.”
Elara smiled and said, “Okay, Mr. Campbell, since you don’t want to hear it, guess I’ll head back to work.”
Albert felt his chest tighten with frustration. He cast a glance at Elnora’s closed office door, then headed into his own office.
When Elara asked Elnora if she wanted Zack to succeed, Elnora said, “I hope he does.”
Just remembering Elnora’s answer made Albert feel like his frustration was about to burst out.
Elara had been Elnora’s trusted assistant for years. She really knew her inside out.
She knew exactly how to get under his skin.
Albert was so frustrated that even breathing felt painful.
