I Was Their Reality Show and Their Sacrifice 8

Chapter 8

Every word I said landed hard.

Delphine’s face drained of color.

She grabbed Cassian’s sleeve, her voice trembling, confusion carefully staged.

“Cassian… what is she even talking about? I don’t understand any of this…”

My parents and Evander froze.

For a moment, they remembered the twenty-six years they had spent with me.

I had always been the one who stayed close, the one who cared, the one Evander was proudest of.

He used to talk about me all the time.

That was how Cassian first noticed me.

Back then, Cassian would circle around the topic, trying to sound casual.

“If your sister ever went into acting… could she pull it off?”

Evander had laughed and punched his shoulder, pride impossible to hide.

“You have no idea. She picks things up fast. Always has.”

When that excuse didn’t work, Cassian started showing up more often.

Any excuse to hang out with Evander.

Any chance to see me.

Every time we crossed paths, he would find something-anything-to talk about.

Later, when I became an actress, he stayed in the background like a fan.

He followed every update, attended every premiere, watched every film I made again and again.

Whenever I had a new release, he rented out entire theaters for his company employees.

Just to support me.

To get closer to me, he even launched Rourke Entertainment.

Delphine’s face turned even paler.

She forced a smile.

“Cassian… how would I know where they are? And Graham Hale… you must be remembering wrong.”

She pressed a hand to her head.

“I… I don’t feel well. I can’t remember anything…”

My parents exchanged a look.

Something finally cracked.

“We clearly had people track down those men back then,” my father said slowly. “They were supposed to be prosecuted… but after that, there was no follow-up.”

“And after Delphine came back, she always got first pick in everything,” my mother added. “Aurelia didn’t even have a choice. How could she have been targeting her?”

Evander suddenly crouched down, clutching his head as his whole body began to tremble.

A memory hit him without warning.

The day he believed Delphine-when she said I had killed her newly adopted stray dog.

He hadn’t hesitated.

He slapped me.

Why?

Why had he believed her so easily?

The sister he had known for twenty-six years…

How could she have done something like that?

I was the one who had taken in over twenty stray cats and treated them like family.

And now, they were all gone.

Just because Delphine said she was allergic.
