Chapter 620
Elnora didn’t say anything. She simply lifted her glass and took a gentle sip of water.
Her expression was masked by the glass, but her eyes never wavered from their original direction.
Everyone followed her gaze and spotted Stella standing in the doorway of the lounge.
Stella’s eyes were red-rimmed. The moment everyone’s eyes fell on her, she turned and left.
As she walked out, she wiped her face with her hand, but it was impossible to tell if she’d been crying.
Elnora set her glass down, her face showing little emotion.
Just then, Wren gently took Elnora’s hand and spoke softly.
“Ms. Finley, I’m really sorry. I didn’t know she comes to the riding club every week,” Wren said.

“She and Mr. Campbell are ancient history. No matter how much they used to care for each other, it’s just a fleeting memory now. You’re his wife, so you really don’t need to pay attention to her. The Taylor family is just a minor family…”
Wren whispered words of comfort in Elnora’s ear, but each word pricked at Elnora, leaving her uncomfortable.
Elnora’s slender, graceful fingers absently rubbed the handle of her glass.
She listened quietly to Wren, a faint smile tugging at her lips, leaving everyone guessing what she was really thinking.
The vibe in the room was a bit awkward.
In the end, it was Albert who spoke up, breaking the awkward tension.
“Did you get hurt just now?” Albert asked.
Elnora looked up at Albert.
Everyone followed her gaze to Albert.
Wren, who had been talking endlessly, suddenly went quiet.
Elnora’s presence was so intense that some people were actually a little scared. They were afraid she might do something dramatic at any moment.
Everyone was on edge.
But Elnora just looked up at Albert and spoke in a cool, indifferent tone.
Tm not hurt,’ she said. “Don’t worry, Mr. Campbell. I won’t get hurt.”
After saying this, Elnora walked over to Albert, her voice soft as she said, “Let’s go horseback riding
Wren’s face showed a hint of surprise as she quietly asked, “Ms. Finley, maybe you should take a break first?
Elnora similed at her, looking completely at ease
“You invited me to ride, Wren If I just sit in the lounge the whole ume, wouldn’t that kill the mood for everyone she

replied.
Wren opened her mouth, but in the end, she swallowed her words.
Seeing the tension ease a bit, Kaelin quickly chimed in, “Alright then. You’re truly a remarkable woman. Something this minor could never kill your mood.”
Wren nodded in agreement, smiling as she replied, “Guess I was just overthinking it.”
Albert stayed quiet.
Elnora walked up to him and asked, “Mr. Campbell, can I ride Gust?”
A flicker of hesitation crossed Albert’s eyes.
‘Gust is a racehorse, and he’s had some trouble in the past…” Albert started.
Elnora interrupted him, “Just answer yes or no, Mr. Campbell.”
Albert frowned, looked her in the eye, and after a brief pause, nodded.
Yes,” he replied.
Elnora smiled, her eyes bright as she looked at Albert.
Just riding around like this is kind of boring,” Elnora said. “Mr. Campbell, let’s make it interesting. How about a race?”
Albert frowned. “What kind of race are you thinking? And what’s the wager?”
Elnora grinned, her lips curling up mischievously.
Let’s bet on a promise,” Elnora said. “If I win, you’ll have to grant me a promise, Mr. Campbell. If I lose, I’ll grant you one”
Deal?” she asked.
Elnora locked eyes with Albert, a playful smile tugging at her lips.
Albert held Elnora’s gaze, his eyes steady and silent.
le asked, “So, what kind of promise are you after?”
nora just smiled, “That’s a secret.”
Ubert arched a brow, a playful grin spreading across his face. “Well, I wouldn’t mind winning a promise from you. Elnora ince it’s a race, I guess I’ll have to give it my all.”
Anora replied, “Races are meant to be taken seriously.”
Albert just smiled at her, said nothing, and offered her the whip.
nora took it and headed out of the lounge.
Albert followed her out
ust then, Karlin walked over, slung an arm around Albert’s shoulder, and grinned Albert, go easy on her will you Shev your wife, after all

“It’s just a promise,” he laughed, shrugging it off.
Albert didn’t say a word.
Just a promise Albert mused silently.
But he had no idea what kind of promise Elnora would ask for.
Albert instinctively didn’t want to lose.
After leaving the lounge, Elnora made her way toward the stables.
Gust was tied right up front.
Elnora walked over, pushed down her inner fear, and reached out to grab Gust’s reins.
Gust huffed at her, staring her down.
Elnora’s grip on the reins tightened, but she stood her ground as Gust nudged his head closer.
Gust sniffed Elnora, then nuzzled up against her.
Seeing Gust behave like that, Elnora knew her hunch had been right.
Elnora shot a glance at Wren.
Wren’s eyes were already on her.
She beamed at Elnora and strode over.
“Ms. Finley, see? I told you Gust is a really clever horse. He probably knows you’re his owner, so he’s trying to please you.” Wren said with a bright smile.
Elnora reached up and gently stroked Gust’s face.
Gust nuzzled against her hand, just like the other horse had earlier.
A flicker of indifference crossed Elnora’s eyes, but she quickly composed herself.
With one hand on the reins, she walked up to Gust’s side, stepped into the stirrup, and swung herself onto the saddle in one smooth, practiced motion.
She fixed her gaze on Albert and said, “I’ll be waiting for you on the track, Mr. Campbell.”
With that she urged Gust forward with a tug on the reins.
Everyone couldn’t help but be impressed as Elnora rode Gust out toward the track.
She’s got guts, someone thought First time on Gust and she’s already challenging Mr Campbell’

This isn’t my first time on horseback, she reminded herself.
But it had been years since the last time.
She knew how to ride, but after that incident years ago, she’d stayed away from horses ever since.

Elnora was racking her brain, trying to remember everything her coach had taught her about how to manage the horse and how to keep it under control.
Albert pulled up next to her, straightened his gloves, and spoke in a cool, steady tone. “Ms. Finley, since it’s your first time on Gust, maybe you want to get a feel for him first?”
Elnora gave Albert a sideways look, her brow creasing just a bit.
Albert turned to meet her gaze.
He wasn’t trying to make her feel bad.
He was just worried about her.
He picked up on the look in Elnora’s eyes and was about to say something to clear things up.
Elnora spoke up, her tone icy and detached.
“That’s unnecessary,” she said.
