Chapter 116 First Lesson in Life

If those “unimportant villains” existing would help Maya grow further, then the system felt it was not completely unacceptable.

So its voice fell silent again and disappeared into the depths of her mind.

“Really? Really?”

Toby said it twice in a row. The corners of his lips lifted slightly, as if he were smiling.

Or as if he did not believe her at all.

After all, his little sister had always been a coward.

She never easily gave her trust to anyone and wrapped herself in a thick shell.

Cautious and smart.

Compared to those sweet words she casually used to coax him…

It would be better to figure out how to fix some of her bad habits.

For example…

He coldly looked at the group of classmates in the distance who were eagerly raising their phones, trying to take pictures.

Her instinctive habit of shrinking back when facing certain groups of people.

The moment Toby’s eyes landed on them, Annie’s heart jumped. She quickly tugged at her friend. “Stop taking pictures. He’ll come settle the score with us later.”

“Oh, come on. What are you scared of? Isn’t his temper pretty good?”

“His temper is good?” Annie almost screamed. “Where did you get that idea? What gave you that ridiculous delusion? Haven’t enough students gotten in trouble because of him?”

“Wasn’t that just because people kept talking trash about him?” her friend said dismissively. “Fine, fine, I won’t take pictures. But what’s that girl to him? They’re so close. Is she his cousin or something?”

“She’s his real sister. Stop guessing.” Annie pressed the screen dark on her friend’s phone. “Let’s go back. I think he just looked at us.”

Watching the students scatter like startled birds, Toby finally felt some of his irritation fade.

“Do you want to stay with me for a while?” He looked away and reached out to pinch her cheek himself. “During that time, you can think about what you want to get from me.”

Resources, connections, protection, a way out, a future.

Anything she needed, she could get from him.

Maya said, “Wait.”

She made him stop talking first. “Why are you suddenly saying this again?”

Silence followed.

“What I mean is, you can use me.” Toby was fine when it came to saying polished, respectable lines, but when it came to telling the truth, he hesitated instead. “I hope you’ll want something from me. Because that’s one of the few uses I have.”

He was not lying. Toby genuinely thought that.

If he could be useful to her, he would actually feel happy.

Maya said, “Wouldn’t that make you a tool person?”

Now that she thought about it…

He really would make a very useful tool person.

A trace of surprise appeared on Maya’s face.

No one had ever told her that once you cleared a difficult crazy boss battle, you got a perfect helper as a reward.

She instinctively guessed at his psychology. Was he insecure?

How strange.

Someone so extremely arrogant could actually be insecure too?

“When school ends and we go home, if Mom agrees, I’ll stay with you,”

She had not rejected him.

Toby’s expression softened a little.

Then he remembered something, and his brows furrowed again.

“These next few days, remember this. If strangers send you messages, don’t respond.” George was a computer expert. He constantly spammed Toby’s phone with messages like it had a virus, irritating him endlessly.

Maya boldly guessed, “Strangers? Your brother?”

“No. He’s a wild boar.”

Maya fell silent.

At the same time, in another corner of the campus, George suddenly felt his nose itch.

He muttered for no reason, “Who’s talking trash about me?”

No one around him answered.

He did not care. He lowered his head and looked at the campus map he had just obtained on his phone

screen.

The building layout, camera locations, security patrol routes, everything was marked densely across the

map.

How to make this school completely disappear in a short amount of time without a sound, and still walk away safely before the authorities arrived.

The key was cutting off all electronic devices and outside communication, turning the school into an isolated island.

He would also need to remove certain people who might interfere with the plan.

Among them, his younger brother Toby was definitely a problem.

George decided to personally handle him and tie him up.

He was really looking forward to seeing his brother’s shocked expression.

Didn’t expect that, did you?

Your greatest enemy was actually your own brother.

“I’ll deal with my brother myself. Don’t worry about my dad causing trouble for you. He never cared much about us anyway.”

Raymond really was a terrible father.

When George had been a child, he had loved climbing high places. One time, after getting stuck in a tree and unable to come down, his great father had slowly opened his broad arms beneath him…

Well, actually they had not been that broad.

His dad looked thin and frail in a white shirt, the classic weak-looking guy who seemed one strong wind away from collapsing.

Raymond wore a serious expression and said calmly, “I’m going to teach you your first lesson in life. You need to trust other people.”
