Chapter 134 Underestimated Kids’ Self-ControlÂ

The blanket was crumpled into a messy pile. Clothes were scattered all over the sofa. Snack wrappers lay here and there, and game controllers were carelessly thrown onto the carpet.Â
Two kids each held a game console, heads down, completely lost in a virtual world they couldn’t pull themselves out of. They look like two game-addicted children happily lost in their games.Â
The moment Maya and Alfred heard the door open, they instinctively hid their game consoles behind their backs.Â
It was the kind of reflex kids seemed born with.Â
Especially when parents thought you were studying, but you were actually playing games the whole time. That kind of panic hit its peak right away.Â
After Toby pushed the door open and walked in, Maya quickly hopped in place twice, acting clueless and surprised. “Toby, you’re finally back!”Â
Alfred also hurriedly bounced twice.Â
They looked just like two little zombies.Â
Perfectly synced, acting innocent and silly at the same time.Â
The housekeeper standing behind them couldn’t help but let out a couple of soft laughs.Â
She was a kind middle-aged woman, very patient with kids.Â
But Toby was her employer, so there was nothing she could do about it.Â
Facing the kids’ panicked looks, she could only shrug helplessly.Â
Their ridiculous little “Toby welcome dance” actually cooled Toby’s anger a bit.Â
He leaned against the doorframe, looking coldly at the two kids sitting with no proper posture. He said flatly. “If I remember right, this was supposed to be a… room?”Â
Maya nodded a few times. “Mm-hmm.”Â
He took a step closer and raised his voice. “So tell me, now that this place has turned into a pigsty, do you two have any idea what happened here?”Â
Toby wasn’t exactly obsessive about cleanliness, but he did like things neat.Â
Is this place even fit for people to live in?Â
Maya wasn’t afraid of him at all. She jumped down from the bed and quickly reminded him, “Toby, are you taking me to the party? It’s already Monday.”Â
She had been waiting so long that she felt completely worn out.Â
Toby let out a cold laugh. “Oh, you know today is Monday? So you skipped school just to sit here and playÂ

games?”Â
Alfred pulled a book over his head, hiding his face, trying his best to become invisible.Â
He wasn’t afraid of Toby.Â
But sometimes Toby talked way too much. It was honestly annoying.Â
“And you, Alfred.”Â
Still, he didn’t escape.Â

“You two…” Toby pressed a finger to his chin and paced back and forth in frustration. “Have you been in this pigsty and playing games for a whole week?”Â
Toby clearly underestimated just how little self-control kids could have.Â
He had been trained strictly since he was young. Discipline was basically carved into his bones. But these two little ones…Â
“Alfred, you weren’t like this before.” He looked at his younger brother, the one who had always been the most reliable.Â
Alfred shot back right away, “I didn’t get plastic surgery.”Â
He didn’t change his face. If he wasn’t like this before, then what was he supposed to be like now?Â
Toby was speechless.Â
“I’ve always been like this,” Maya cut in fast before she could be blamed. “I just like playing games!”Â
She really did like games.Â
If she weren’t so young and afraid of getting scolded by her mother, she could easily stay up for three days straight playing nonstop.Â
During this past week, she and Alfred even met two friends in a mobile game-one boy and one girl-and the four of them had been teaming up online for a long time.Â
Without any hesitation, Toby took away their phones, game consoles, and computers, then said coldly, “Now, get out of your pigsty.”Â
Alfred and Maya exchanged a quick, helpless look but didn’t dare argue.Â
They were kicked out of the room, feeling pretty down.Â
“Toby’s kind of like Mom,” Alfred said as he sat in the living room, thinking seriously.Â
Maya immediately shot back, “No! Mom isn’t that scary at all!”Â
Mom’s gentle.Â
Toby, on the other hand, is just grumpy.Â

By then, the housekeeper had already gone in to clean the room, and the stylists they had booked in advance were waiting in the living room for quite a while.Â
Toby frowned, finally remembering why today mattered.Â
“So what are you planning to do at this birthday party? It’s just a little girl’s party. Most of the guests are kids, and there are hardly any important guests.”Â
Maya instinctively lowered her head and caught sight of the stylists measuring her up and down. She asked, “You want the truth?”Â
“Do you think I’m here to hear you lie on purpose?” Toby replied flatly.Â
Maya went quiet for a second.Â
Then she gave up completely. “I have a younger brother.”Â
She expected at least some reaction.Â
At least Toby should raise an eyebrow or pause for a moment.Â
But nothing.Â
Toby’s tone stayed calm. “Why would you have a younger brother?”Â
Huh?Â
Maya looked up, her expression almost breaking.Â
“Are you serious right now?Â
“Unless you think someone can just pop out like Adonis from a tree, having a sibling isn’t that weird, right?”Â
Toby reacted on instinct. “Who is Adonis?”Â
Which guy is that now?Â
Maya was stunned.Â
She blinked in shock, like she couldn’t believe Toby would say something that sounded so clueless.Â
“You don’t know my idol?!Â
“If you say that out loud, people are going to laugh at you, Toby!”Â
Toby thought for a moment, then suddenly remembered who she meant. He calmed down, then looked at her suspiciously and said, “Wait, wasn’t your idol before that guy in the red tight suit? That Spider guy?”Â
