He leaned toward the idea that Maya had suddenly wanted to find her biological parents, so she asked the Clarks for help, and that was how they followed the trail and found him.

“Stop. Don’t rush. Things are a mess right now. Let me handle this,” Maya, standing in the center of it all, tried to take control of the situation, calming one side and then the other. 

First, she reached out, trying to get Lawrence off her. 

But the moment she shook him off, Lawrence blinked and quickly grabbed her again.

Like he was afraid she would run away. 

Maya was speechless once again.

Lawrence blinked lightly, his long lashes trembling a little. Then he lifted his face, his amber eyes shining. 

It wasn’t fear. 

It was excitement. 

“Okay.” His voice was soft. “Please hit me.” 

Maya was confused.

Maya couldn’t help but shoot him a cold glare, but Lawrence only smiled sweeter. 

He actually missed the days of being bullied by Maya. But it seems his sister didn’t think the same way. In fact, her originally calm expression looked a bit horrified.

She really didn’t expect that Toby would actually respect someone’s privacy. 

“I told you before I came, I have a younger brother.” She paused. “You just didn’t believe me.” 

Toby was silent for a few seconds. 

Then he spoke with a strange look on his face. “So what do you plan to do? Since you don’t plan to go with him, how are you going to handle him?” 

Maya hadn’t fully decided yet. She needed to talk to Lawrence first. She wouldn’t make decisions for him, but if possible, she wanted to bring him back with her. 

The Jacksons weren’t good at all. 

He looked like a flower that withered before it even bloomed. He looked weak and a bit yellow, like he hadn’t been eating well. 

Maya decided to test the waters first. “Do you think I can bring him home? Lawrence has a really good personality.” 

Toby felt like everything about this situation was strange. Nothing made sense. But he caught one key point. “How do you even know what his personality is like?”
