Chapter 12
Silas’s POV
didn’t even remember how I walked back to my office.
sat in my chair, staring out the window. I felt a hollow sense of aimlessness-as if I had stepped off a cliff and there was nothing to old onto.
What was wrong with me?
t was just a ceremony. A boring pack rule that had been canceled. It was just Harper Brooks, the broken wolf who had spent years ircling around me.
Compared to my goals of expanding the Ice Crown Pack, this should have been nothing.
So why did my chest feel like it had been ripped open, leaving nothing but a cold wind blowing through the emptiness?
Knock, knock, knock-
A knock at the door broke my trance. Chloe Miller pushed the door open and walked in.
Alpha, I need to check the raw herbal formulas from the last batch of antidote. The border guards need more…”
snapped back to reality. A sudden wave of irritation rose in my heart.
The healing logs… I remembered Harper saying that she kept a backup of all important formulas in my office.
I’ll find it,” I said coldly.
stood up and walked over to the large filing cabinet.
The moment I opened the door, I froze again.
The cabinet was no longer the neat, perfectly labeled system I remembered. It was a complete mess.
Folders from different pack missions were mixed together.
Jnfinished reports were shoved into the corners.
Only then did it hit me-it had been nearly a week since Harper had last organized it for me.
n the past, I only had to mention what I needed, and Harper would find it instantly, handing it to me with a soft smile.
swallowed my anger and began digging through the stack of files.
The longer it took to find, the shorter my patience became. Mixed with the anger was a feeling I didn’t want to admit-a desperate need for the familiar female who usually stood right beside me.
Standing near the door, Chloe watched me search. Her eyes shifted, and she spoke in a fake, sweet tone.
Honestly, Alpha… even if Harper is upset, she should have handed her duties over properly. Pack formulas just vanish? The medical tent is stuck now, and it’s delaying the entire team.”
My hands stopped moving. A low growl slipped from my throat.
‘I was the one who put her in charge of the medical logs. If there’s a problem, it’s my responsibility.”
Chloe’s face turned pale. She lowered her head, too scared by my Alpha tone to say another word.
I ignored her and walked toward Harper’s old desk in the corner of my office.
The desk was perfectly clean. Aside from the standard pack computer and a few dead plants, there was nothing left. Not a single
pen.
It looked as though she had never existed.

I turned on the computer. It asked for a password. Without thinking, my fingers typed in my own birthday.
Access Granted.
My heart felt a sharp, sudden sting.
I found the encrypted folder named ‘Silver Antidote’ and clicked it open.
It was empty.
My breath hitched. She had deleted it… she had actually deleted every scrap of the raw formulas we had poured months of effort nto. The life-saving logs she used to treat like a treasure.
It was at that moment that I truly and completely panicked.
A sense of terror I had never felt before grabbed my heart. I was the strongest Alpha, but right now, I felt completely helpless.
As I stared at the empty folder, two guards walked past the open door, chatting.
Hey, did you hear? Harper Brooks transferred to the Badlands Pack.”
Are you serious? The Badlands? The conditions out there are brutal. It’s freezing, and it’s full of bloodthirsty rogues. That’s a death sentence for a wolf who can’t shift…”
My Head snapped up.
My pupils shrank into tiny pinpricks. My inner wolf let out a deafening, panicked howl inside my mind.
The Badlands.
She didn’t just leave me. She went to the deadliest place in the world.
