Chapter 5
“Noah?”
I blurted out his name in confusion. Only then did I remember that in my previous life, he had been my neighbor, living right next door to the house Adrian and I shared.
Adrian was hardly ever home, so whenever something went wrong in the house, Noah was the one who helped me.

So I forced an end to the farce. “Adrian, about your family’s investment–you can tell your father to talk to mine. I’ll tell my father too that I don’t like you anymore, and there’s no need to keep using the investment to tie you down. So now are you satisfied? Can you leave?”

He was still calling my name behind me. It didn’t matter; I wasn’t going to look back.
