Evie’s pov
I thought he’d not say a word. I thought he’d accept his fate. Accept my words but his eyes flashed a dangerous anger that made the little hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
“You’re my mate Evie. No one else. Not only has the goddess fated us, my wolf chose you,” he sneered low as he strides toward
My heart sped and I quickly get on land, rushing to put my clothes back on as I say over my shoulder. “You know you’re meant to be with Kimberly Ryan. They won’t accept our bond. I’m not-
I staggered in my words, pained that I couldn’t even have the courage to say that I have no wolf. It was so embarrassing to admit out loud.
“Bullshit!” He snarls and just as I straighten my back Ryan is right behind me. Pressing to me. Pressing so deliciously close to
A stuttering gasp leaves my throat. “You know I’ve always chosen you Evie,” he murmured as his fingers come to wrap around my throat. Not squeezing. Just holding. Claiming me.
My pulse roars beneath his palm as his lips brush against my ear. “I have always chosen you.”
My heart speeds and my brain races but then another shriek slams through the air once more, breaking me out of the daze Ryan had put me in. I shifted out of his hold as I say over my shoulder. “You can’t this time,”
I don’t wait to watch his expression or hear his words, I run back to the house. Back to my cage. Back to where I didn’t belong.
I looked over my shoulder once and caught his angry gaze. I peel my eyes away and whimpered low in my throat. This was for his own good. For the packs good.
They’d never accept us.
They’d never accept me.
When I got to the house I used the same door I ran out of earlier to enter back in undetected. The shrieks were from Kimberly who was playing some stupid game with the rest of her friends.
And to think I thought something bad was happening to her……
Once I got to my room I stroll toward my window where I could see them. I shake my head as I watch them dance around the fire, shrieking and giggling like they had no care in the world.
A part of me wish I could enjoy it too. It’s my birthday after all. I did deserve to feel a little warmth by the fire. I did deserve to eat at least a piece of cake.
As my eyes flick around the area, my hair still dripping and clinging to my face something caught my eye. Well someone. Ryan.
He was just storming out of the trees, looking so furious and tense. He still had no shirt on and didn’t seem to care that he was walking back into the party half naked and soaked.
My heart leaps.
The firelight was kissing his bare chest so deliciously, showcasing the sharp lines of his muscles. Everyone seem to notice him instantly. I mean why wouldn’t they when his entire aura scream dominance and power?
From this far I still felt it. The bond. Tugging, pulling, reaching to join.
I swallowed as my finger graze my curtains and lift them to my tingling lips once his eyes lift and clash on mine.

They were not gentle like they had been earlier. No.
His eyes were now stormy. Rage filled. Angry.
Kimberly stopped her awful shrieking and beamed at him but he barely looked her way. No. His eyes were on me. Locked on me.
“Ryan baby!” She giggled as rushes to him but he growls and she freezes. Everyone freezes. Including me.
Oh gosh he had never been this furious. As our eyes stay connected the angry look in his eyes turn to a glare. My heart punches hard in my chest, beating so quickly I become light headed.
Just as he is about to storm towards the house, his father who is still the dominating alpha, grabs his arm and stops him. He leans close to Ryan’s ear and whispers something that had Ryan’s aura changing completely.
His entire body goes rigid. Whatever his father whispered in his ear, whatever threat or warning, or order, causes Ryan’s
muscles to tense further.
From here I can see his chest rise and fall sharply. It was like he was swallowing back a growl.
Ryan lifts his head, his jaw now clenched so tight I can see the strain of his vein in his neck. His eyes flicker back to me and my breath hitches.
Possession.
Desperation.
It was like he was trying to tell me he wasn’t done with me yet.
But then his eyes flicker back to his father and his nostrils flare. My heart skips. I knew that look. I knew it all too well. He was being commanded to not cause a scene. To stand down. To not go to me.
I stagger away from the window, guilt bitting me through my flesh. This was all my fault.
This was all my-
My bedroom door suddenly wrenches open and slams on the opposite wall. I twist around quickly and my heart jumps in my throat when I see who stares right back at me.
