That trophy was from the year he became a professional player, a championship win that meant the world to him. How dare she give it away?
Chloé tugged at Luke’s sleeve. “Luke, don’t be mad. Joining your team is something I’ve always dreamed of. Alice will come around and agree.”

He glared at Alice. “You only get one chance. Think carefully about your answer. Do you want to join our family team or not?”
Alice found it amusing; it turned out Luke was all bark, easily manipulated by Chloe.

Alice looked at her.”Chloe, since you’ve always wanted to join the team, I’ll give you my spot.”

Alice gripped her pen tightly, realizing she was still under the Welch family’s control and could only deal with it for now.
