The ‘bodyguard pulled me away and pressed the call button by the bed.
Ever since I smashed a water cup over Maverick’s head that day, his grandfather, Larry Clinton,
had insisted he bring a bodyguard every time he came to the hospital to see me.
‘Ms. Pretty, I want Ms. Pretty! I don’t want you. I don’t want you!”
I threw myself onto the bed, crying and flailing my legs.
Maverick’s face twisted in pain and confusion.
‘Mona, who is Ms. Pretty?” he asked.
‘Mr. Clinton, I think it’s Ms. Kincaid,” the bodyguard helpfully chimed in.
‘A few days ago, Ms. Kincaid visited Ms. Rinehart.
‘Ms. Rinehart seemed to really like her…”
After hearing I was simple–minded, Sophia had hurried to my bedside in Maverick’s absence.
“Ramona, are you really out of it?”
She hid behind the bodyguard, eyeing me suspiciously.
But when she heard me giggle and call her “Ms. Pretty,” her surprise instantly turned to delight.
She spent a long time playing with me that day.
When she left, she smiled and said, “Mona, be good. I’ll come see you again.”
A smirk played on her lips, dripping with a mockery and triumph that a “fool” wasn’t ^ Fold Up to understand.

The Idiot Wife’s Revenge
Hearing Sophia’s name, Maverick paused.
“Mona, you… actually like Sophia?”
In the two years Maverick and I had been together, Sophia, as his childhood friend, had made things difficult for me countless times, both openly and behind the scenes.
And every time, Maverick would smooth things over, urging me to be the bigger person and overlook her.
Now, he must have remembered the kidnapping–the way Sophia cried and begged him to save her first, while I chose to jump into the sea, telling him I didn’t want to put him in a difficult position.
He pressed his lips together, regret and a touch of resentment in his eyes. “If it weren’t for her, you wouldn’t have…”
As he met my wary gaze, his words caught in his throat.
In the end, he said helplessly, “I understand. I’ll take you to see her right now.”
Maverick brought me back to the Clinton’s residence.
He insisted on marrying me–even though I was “a fool.”
Larry was so furious, he nearly joined his late family members in the afterlife.
‘This is outrageous! How could you bring a fool into our family?”
His cane slammed hard against the floor.
