Tracy watched all of this coolly. She knew they wouldn’t stay quiet. When you’re down, everyone wants to kick you.
Thanks to the White family’s intervention, the investigation team had been there for days with no sign of leaving. Their goal was obvious: to halt Vector’s project launch. It was a vicious and effective move. If Yvonne didn’t have such powerful backers, she’d have been finished long ago.
Natalie plopped down next to Tracy, sighing. “Tracy, our project is stalled because of this investigation, and everyone thinks we’re going under. While we’re dealing with this, Yvonne is over there succeeding. I really think they did this on purpose. And Chandler! He’s unconditionally backing her project. I heard he even emptied his personal accounts for her.”
If Tracy hadn’t assured her that the real show was yet to come, Natalie would have already stormed over to strangle Yvonne. It was infuriating. She truly hadn’t expected Yvonne to be an impostor, only to find out she was backed by the White family. That twist was something no one saw coming, and it was maddening.
Tracy just shrugged, unfazed. “Let them have their moment. They won’t be laughing for long. The investigation team is about to leave, and we can get the project back on track. I haven’t stopped working on the proposal this entire time. Don’t worry. They didn’t find anything, which means we should be signing the contract in a few days. Once we have that, my name will be cleared. I suspect Yvonne and her mother are in for a few sleepless nights.”
Fortunately, the investigators were from a national agency and couldn’t be swayed by family influence. It was just a delay, letting those clowns have their moment in the spotlight. It would only make their eventual downfall more painful.
Natalie nodded. “You’re right. But I also heard that Gaunt Corp’s stock has plummeted because of what happened with Renee. That, combined with their cash flow problems… the company only looks successful. Internally, it’s about to collapse. So, the money Chandler invested in Yvonne? That was all his own.”
Thinking about Chandler’s fate, she felt a sense of satisfaction. To risk his entire fortune for a woman… He’s certainly generous. I just hope all their money goes down the drain. That would be even better.
This was the first time since the divorce that Tracy had heard what was really happening at Gaunt Corp, and the first she’d heard of Chandler’s personal finances-only to find out he’d dumped it all into Yvonne’s project. She never expected Gaunt Corp to fall into a financial crisis after she left. And she certainly never expected Chandler to go to such lengths for Yvonne. How romantic.

Natalie continued, “And remember your wicked ex-mother-in-law? When she heard Chandler had invested half his personal fortune in Yvonne, she had a fit and ended up in the hospital. The Xander family is pouring money in, too. I heard that if one of their executives hadn’t stepped in, your idiot brother wanted to invest even more. If Yvonne’s project fails after all this, they’re going to lose everything, down to their underwear.”
She believed Tracy. Yvonne would reap what she sowed. Natalie was just waiting to see it happen.
Tracy glanced at the time and sent a message to Sam: “Has the investigation team left?”
A moment later, he replied: “Just saw them out. Why? What’s up?”
Tracy smiled. “Great. Can you please gather the tech department for a meeting? I have a new idea to discuss.”
He replied almost instantly: “On it.”
The meeting lasted for hours. Even when the official workday ended, no one made a move to leave. Tracy’s new idea, which she had developed over the past few days, was brilliant. It completely overturned their previous plan, but it was undeniably better and far simpler to
execute.
At seven P.M., the meeting finally ended, but the team was still buzzing, discussing the new concept as they filed out.
Sam walked up to Tracy, his eyes full of admiration. “Tracy, you’re incredible. To come up with an idea this good in just a few days… I was worried all these resignations would delay our timeline, but I never expected this.”
