Chapter 249 A Bit of Matchmaking
Finished
Although he already had faith in Tracy’s abilities, he was astonished that she could completely scrap their original idea and develop a new, superior one in just a few days.
Tracy gathered her files and explained, “I was worried those defectors would leak our code to Xander Corp and then accuse us of plagiarism. That’s why I came up with a new approach.”
Sam still looked concerned. “But if they leak the code, and we just abandon it, aren’t we letting them off easy?” The thought of their treachery still infuriated him.
Tracy patted his shoulder. “Don’t worry, they won’t get what they want. I’ve already left us a way out. I’m not about to let all our hard work be stolen. They’ll get what they deserve.”
Sam, reassured by her confidence, felt much better. He trusted her to handle it.
Tracy handed him a file. “By the way, Uncle Morgan is having surgery tomorrow, so I won’t be in. I’ll email you the rest of the work. You’ll have to lead the meeting.”
She had been visiting Morgan in the hospital every day after work. He was in good spirits, and they would talk for hours, just like when she was a child. Back then, he would patiently answer every question she had, always treating her like his own daughter.
She felt a pang of guilt. Because of Chandler, she had neglected them for so long. She had given up so much for that man, and it had all been a joke.
Sam sighed. “Of course. Go take care of your uncle. I’ve got this. Please wish him a speedy recovery from me.”
“Thanks,” Tracy said.
“It’s late. Want to grab dinner?”
“I can’t. My aunt is waiting for me with food. I’ll see you later.”
When she got to the conference room door, Natalie was waiting for her.
“Tracy,” Natalie asked, “can I… can I go with you to see Morgan?”
Tracy saw right through her. “You just want to see my brother, don’t you?”
Natalie blushed but didn’t deny it. She had added Jackson on WhatsApp and tried to chat, but he was so cold and unresponsive, her initial enthusiasm had been quickly extinguished. He clearly wasn’t a man of many words; she’d send a long message, and he’d reply with one or two words, as if typing cost him money.

“So, can I?” Natalie asked again.

Tracy shouldered her bag and nodded. “You can. But my brother is a total iceberg. Chasing him is going to be tough. Are you sure you’re up for it?”
Natalie’s determined expression was all the answer she needed.
Morgan’s face lit up when Tracy walked in. “Lily was just wondering when you’d get here, and look at you!”
“Oh, and you brought your friend! Come in, sit down.”
Lily saw the bags in Natalie’s hands and rushed over. “You shouldn’t have! You’ve spent too much.”
Natalie smiled at Lily. “I wasn’t sure what he liked, so I just grabbed a few things. I hope it’s okay.”
Although she was speaking to Lily, her eyes kept darting to Jackson, who was quietly peeling an apple.
“Hi, Jackson,” she said, waving shyly. “I hope me just showing up isn’t a bother.”
Jackson handed the apple to Morgan before finally looking at her. “It’s not. Please, sit wherever.”
Tracy looked back and forth between them. It had been days, and they’d made zero progress.
She walked over to her brother. “Jackson, I’m suddenly craving food from that one place… Why don’t you and Natalie go pick it up for me?”
Jackson looked at Natalie, hesitating. “I… that’s not appropriate, is it?”
“What’s not appropriate?” Tracy pushed him toward Natalie. “You’re single, she’s single. Go spend some time together. Maybe something will happen. Uncle Morgan is waiting to see you get married, and I’m waiting to celebrate! Stop dragging your feet. Young people shouldn’t mope around. Go! And remember to be a little more proactive!”
