Til Be the Vitam Lavonte DaughterÂ
Chapter 177 The Trigger and the TruthÂ
Thomas said, “Be a good girl, okay?”Â
That line again. Be good. Kaia had been good.Â
For so long. She waited; stayed quiet; did everything right.Â
And this was all she got.Â
“I hate you.” Her voice came out rough and broken.Â
Thomas didn’t look at her again.Â
He forced himself to harden his heart. He ignored her crying, opened the car door, and stepped out.Â
But he couldn’t leave her with nothing.Â

The 10,000 dollars a month he’d arranged for her living expenses would keep her afloat. MaybeÂ
it would also wake her up, stopping her from acting foolish and thinking he could fix everything for her.Â
It was time Kaia learned to grow up. She couldn’t stay this childish forever.Â
George noticed Thomas the moment he got close. A faint smile curled on his lips, a hint of curiosity in his eyes. “Someone’s coming.”Â
“Shut up.” Toby got annoyed the second George spoke. He shoved him hard, like he couldn’t stand him.Â
Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Thomas walking over. Without a word, Toby turned back to the car and pulled out a gun.Â
George frowned, a little puzzled. “Why are you acting impulsive? Why grab a gun out of nowhere?”Â
“Acting impulsive?” Toby’s voice came out cold, like ice scraping metal. “That’s me showing restraint for not shooting him.”Â
There’s a saying: when enemies meet head-on, the fiercer one wins.Â
And Toby was clearly the boldest of them all.Â

He didn’t hesitate. He raised the gun and aimed at the man getting closer.Â
The sun had set. The light was dim. Perfect for a clean shot.Â
He planned to use the darkness to end Thomas with one bullet.Â
George reacted fast. He grabbed Toby’s wrist, gripping hard. “Calm down.”Â

He leaned in, lowering his voice. “You really think you can fire a gun here? Mom said we’re not supposed to mess with the life we have now. There are cops around.”Â
Toby didn’t move. The gun stayed pointed at Thomas.Â
“You think the cops don’t know?” he said, impatient. “And after the mess Dad made today, we’re probably moving overnight.”Â
As if something clicked, his tone eased a little. “Leave it to me. I’ll handle it. I’ll move everyone to a better neighborhood. Maya can make useful friends, not those loud kids downstairs who do nothing but yell all day.”Â
He had already figured out where the family would go next.Â
A wealthy neighborhood. Luxury villa. Floor-to-ceiling windows with a wide, open view. The kind of place that even comes with its own private yard and lawn.Â
George quickly grabbed Toby by the wrist and leaned in with a playful grin. “Little bro… I’m hungry. Feed me?”Â
He didn’t want to work hard anymore.Â
“Get lost. That’s disgusting.” Toby looked so gross that he almost tossed his gun.Â
Raymond narrowed his eyes and studied the man in front of him. Every detail of his outfit was sharp and expensive.Â
The richest man in the country. Raymond had taken assassination jobs before. Thomas’s business rivals had placed orders for some of these jobs. But the price they offered never came close to what Thomas paid the organization every year.Â
No one dared pick a fight with someone that rich.Â
Still, Raymond had never imagined that his daughter would have anything to do with Thomas.Â
While Raymond sized him up, Thomas was thinking too.Â
To Thomas, Raymond had always appeared to be nothing more than a broke nobody.Â

But just now, a group of unknown forces had stormed into the school. The police had sealed the place off. No one was allowed in or out.Â
Thomas managed to leave after paying a huge sum.Â
How did Maya and Raymond get out?Â
And Toby was staring at him coldly.Â
His gun hung low, but his finger still rested on the trigger.Â
He was holding back because their father was there.Â
Raymond never allowed him to act out in public. Toby bit down hard on his lip, forcing himself to stay still. Toby bit down so hard that a trace of blood appeared.Â
“Maya.”Â
Thomas didn’t pay much attention to Toby. He had already figured things out. The girl he saw with Toby at the party was her.Â
This was the same girl who had stabbed him without hesitation.Â
And he had kicked her just as hard.Â
He remembered how her face had gone pale from the pain. Sweat had covered her forehead, yet she clenched her teeth and didn’t cry.Â
Regret and guilt twisted together inside him. Thomas tightened his fist and couldn’t bring himself to think too much about that moment.Â
This was the third time he had been this close to her. He knew he couldn’t rush it.Â
He tried to speak gently, his voice soft and careful. “Maya, I’m your father.”Â
Maya peeked out from behind Raymond. “That doesn’t sound right.”Â
He paused, then corrected himself. “I’m your biological father.”Â
Maya tilted her head. “I’ve never studied biology. What are you supposed to be?”Â
Thomas froze.Â
