Chapter 172

“But what he did manage to tell us was that a number of the other rogues were tricked into taking the injections,” Kane added.

“So, Evelyn’s theory was right,” Henri concluded. “Someone has been this self-elected ring leader the

whole time.”

“It appears so,” Kane confirmed. “Either way, I’m sending out a request to the Alpha King for both his blessing on this endeavor as well as reinforcements and supplies.”

Suddenly, the door of the office flew open. A concerned-looking soldier came marching in.

“What the hell is the meaning of it?” Kane demanded harshly.

The soldier bowed. “Forgive the sudden intrusion, Alpha Kane. I’m here to tell you and Luna Evelyn that someone has vandalized the lab.”

My whole body froze. “What?”

“Everything has been demolished, it seems,” they explained.

I turned my head toward Evelyn, yet she was already gone. A surge of worry coursed through me. I cursed under my breath and rushed after her.

“Evelyn!”

Evelyn’s POV

I couldn’t believe it. No. I didn’t want to believe it.

My lab… All of my work-everything I had developed. Gone.

I anxiously ran to the far side of the house without wasting another second. I heard Kane yelling after me, but I refused to stop. Just as I reached the doorway of where my lab used to be, I froze.

My mouth fell open as a broken cry tore from the back of my throat. My once pristine and beautifully stocked laboratory had been heavily vandalized. Glass was shattered all over the floors. All of my files

had been torn to shreds.

All of my current supplies I’d been putting toward my serum had been crushed and contaminated.

I gripped the frame of the door to keep myself from falling to the ground. Tears welled in my eyes.

“Evelyn!” Kane came rushing to my side. His arms swiftly wrapped around my waist, pulling me away from anything potentially damaging.

My voice seeped in anguish. “I can’t believe it,” I whispered. He turned me in his arms, where I buried my face in the crook of his neck. “Everyhting, Kane… They destroyed everything.”

He cupped the back of my head, trying to console me. “It’s going to be alright,” he said. “We’ll get

everything fixed again.”

I tried pulling out of his hold to get a better look at the damage. “I need to know what they destroyed.”

While I had the formula to recreate the antidote, it still put our plans to cure the other rogues severely on

hold.

Clearly, someone from within our pack was responsible. My immediate thought was that it was Bianca. But she had been banned from the main house. So who else could it have been?

“Evelyn.” Kane’s voice filled a new alarm. “We need to check on Michael.”

Oh, my Gods.

Whoever took it upon themselves to destroy our lab was likely headed after Michael next. Kane and I flew down the hall to get to the medical ward. We rushed to his room, thankfully to find him fast asleep

on his cot.

I glanced at the monitors, and everything seemed normal. At least, we hadn’t lost everything.

I took a moment to catch my breath and wipe my cheeks and eyes. “Who could have done it?”

“Evelyn?!”

Alexander’s voice came booming down the hall. His sudden appearance set my nerves on edge, and I

wasn’t the only one.

Kane snarled as Alexander came to stand in the doorway. “I just heard about what happened to your lab,”

he said.

“You wouldn’t happen to know anything about that, would you?” Kane growled with a simmering

accusation.
