.Chapter 30-2
She snorted. “What are you even talking about right now?”
“I don’t know,” I mumbled, “I’m just trying to make up an excuse for us to cuddle tonight.”
“You’re unbelievable,” she shook her head, and I couldn’t do it anymore. I reached out slowly, giving
her time to pull away, and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She shivered at the contact, her
pupils dilating.
“Kane,” she whispered, and my name on her lips sounded like a prayer.
“Tell me you don’t want this,” I murmured, moving even closer. “Tell me you don’t wake up aching
for my touch like I do, every single day.”
Her breath caught, and I could scent her arousal growing stronger. But instead of moving toward
me, she took a step back.
“I need to pee,” she said abruptly, turning away from me.
I caught her wrist gently, stopping her retreat. “No, you don’t. But I caught the scent of what you
did need.”
She tried to pull away, but I held firm. Not hurting her, just keeping her close enough that she
couldn’t escape.
“Let me go,” she said, but there was no real conviction in her voice.
“If that’s what you really want.” I released her wrist but didn’t step back. “Is it what you want,
Simone?”
She stared at me for a long moment, conflict written across her beautiful face. Then she spun
around and stalked toward the huge tree.
I followed.
She made it about twenty yards before I caught up with her, my hand closing around her arm and
spinning her around to face me.
“Why are you running from me?” I demanded.
“Because this is insane!” she hissed, keeping her voice low. “We’re about to walk into enemy territory, and all I can think about is how badly I want you to touch me. That’s not exactly helpful for
our mission.”
“So you do want me to touch you.” I smiled at her.

<Chapter 30-2
“That’s not the point-”
Claim
I backed her up against the tree, caging her in with my arms. “That’s exactly the point. You want
this as much as I do.”
“Wanting and doing are two different things.”
“Are they?” I leaned down until my lips were almost touching hers. “It’s our last day, Si. If anything happens to me…I don’t want to have regrets, you know. And the first thing that comes to my mind is kissing you for the last time.”
She stared up at me, her chest rising and falling rapidly. I could hear her heartbeat racing, could smell her arousal mixed with the night air. I closed the distance between us, capturing her mouth with mine. She melted against me instantly, her hands fisting in my shirt as she kissed me back
with hunger.
“I’ve missed touching you so badly, love,” I groaned against her lips, my hands roaming her needy body. “It’s been ages.”
She arched into my touch, a soft moan escaping her throat. “We can’t do this here. Everyone will—” “Let them,” I said, nipping at her lower lip. “Let them all know you’re mine.”
“Kane-”
I silenced her with another kiss, pouring all my longing into the connection. Her taste flooded my senses, and my lycan roared with satisfaction. This was where she belonged, in my arms, responding to my touch.
But after a few more heated moments, she pushed against my chest, breaking our connection. “We have to stop,” she panted, her lips swollen from my kisses. “This isn’t the time or place.”
I wanted to argue, to carry her deeper into the woods and finish what we’d started. But she was right. Tomorrow we’d be walking into danger, and we both needed to have our heads in the game.
“This isn’t over,” I told her, stepping back reluctantly.
“I know,” she said softly. “But it has to wait.”
