29 Chapter 29 Predator Arrives
Elena’s POV
The pain started as what I thought was just another terrible cramp. Then it escalated into something so unbearable that I collapsed onto the trailer floor, my body
convulsing in pure agony.
I bit down hard on my lip, desperately trying to muffle the screams threatening to tear from my throat. The last thing I wanted was for anyone to witness this humiliation. But my efforts proved useless.
Jett burst through the trailer door and dropped to his knees beside me, his face etched with panic.
“What the fuck is happening to you?” His voice was sharp with concern. “I need to get the Alpha right now.”
“No,” I gasped, the word coming out as more of a growl than actual speech.
His brow furrowed in confusion. “Why the hell not?”
“Because he’s the one causing this,” I managed to choke out between waves of excruciating pain.
Sweat was now streaming down my face as I curled into myself, wrapping my arms tightly around my stomach. My knees drew up toward my chest as I fought against the urge to scream bloody murder. The effort was becoming impossible to maintain.
“What do you mean he’s causing it?” Jett demanded, his voice rising with anger.
“He’s with Viviana right now,” I ground out through gritted teeth, my body writhing uncontrollably. “This isn’t the first time he’s done this to me.”
Jett shot to his feet and disappeared briefly before returning with a cold, damp cloth. He pressed it against the back of my neck with surprising gentleness.
Settling onto the floor beside me, he actually pulled me into his arms at one point, his hands stroking my hair as he tried to offer whatever comfort he could. Nothing helped ease the torment coursing through my body.
The torture seemed to stretch on endlessly. Jett never once left my side, staying with me through every agonizing moment.

The instant Marcus and Viviana finished their sordid encounter, the pain began to ebb. My breathing gradually returned to normal, and I could see the relief flooding Jett’s features.
“How do you survive that kind of pain?” he asked, his voice filled with disbelief.
“I honestly don’t know,” I whispered, my throat raw from suppressed screams.
“Does he have any idea what he’s doing to you?” The fury in his voice was
unmistakable.
“I showed him the mark after it happened before,” I explained weakly. “He’s been avoiding her for weeks until today.”
“What mark?” Jett’s question came out sharp and demanding.
I lifted my shirt with trembling hands, revealing a second wound carved into my torso. This one was in a different location from the first, obviously fresh with an open gash surrounded by what looked like deep bruising.
The original mark was still visible, though the wound had finally closed. Both seemed to be healing at an unnaturally slow pace, as if my body was struggling to repair the damage.
Jett’s expression darkened to something dangerous when he saw the evidence of my suffering. I found myself wondering how much longer I could endure this level of torture. Maybe this was exactly what Marcus had meant when he threatened to make me suffer. This was his twisted method of punishment.
If that was true, it would make him the most cold–hearted bastard I’d ever encountered. Though I’d been saying that about him for years now. He was just proving my theory correct.
Jett retrieved gauze and surgical tape, helping me wrap the fresh wound to stop the bleeding. He assisted me back onto the couch with careful hands.
After resting for only a few minutes, I forced myself to shower and change into fresh, dry clothes. The sweat–soaked garments had been clinging uncomfortably to my skin. When I emerged from the bathroom, Jett was nowhere to be found inside the trailer. I could hear his voice outside though, engaged in what sounded like an intense
conversation.
Peering through the window, I spotted him walking toward a group of pack warriors

gathered in the tree line. Their body language suggested this wasn’t a casual chat.
I settled back onto the couch, staring blankly at the wall as my thoughts consumed me. Images of Marcus and Viviana together filled my mind, stoking a rage that burned hotter than the physical pain had.
More than anything, I wanted both of them gone from my life. The desire to hurt them the way they’d hurt me was becoming overwhelming.

Marcus had made it clear that he would never reject our mate bond, claiming it would bring bad luck from the Peak Goddess. His superstitious nature ran deep, like werewolves who believed rejecting a fated mate would curse them forever.
Well, I’d already lived a lifetime of bad luck. My entire existence had been one misfortune after another. What would happen if I took matters into my own hands and rejected him first?
Lost in these dark thoughts, I didn’t notice the trailer door opening. The sound of it slamming shut snapped me back to reality.
I looked up to find an unfamiliar man standing in my doorway. Something about him immediately set off every alarm bell in my system.
It took only a moment for recognition to dawn. The pale skin, the predatory stillness, the way he moved with inhuman grace.
“Vampire,” I breathed, my heart rate spiking as I realized just how much danger I was
- in.
His lips curved into a smile that revealed gleaming fangs, confirming my worst fears about what had just walked into my sanctuary.
