60 Chapter 60 First Day Dynamics
Elena’s POV
“Hi.” She said softly.
“Fun night?” I asked with a grin, unable to hide my amusement.
“Yeah. I guess you could say that.” She replied, her voice carrying a hint of satisfaction.
“Well, I suppose that’s what matters most, right?” I pressed, genuinely curious about her evening.
“I suppose so. I’ll catch up with you later.” She said, making her way down the stairs toward the residential section of the territory.
I simply shook my head and took another sip of my coffee, watching her retreating figure with mild interest.
When the time came to leave for school, Gage emerged from the house, his expression determined in a way that immediately put me on guard.
“Where exactly are you planning to go?” I asked, noting the car keys dangling from his fingers.
“I’m driving you to school.” He stated matter–of–factly.
“What? That’s completely unnecessary. I’m perfectly capable of walking there myself. I know exactly where it is.” I protested, not wanting to feel like a burden.
“I’m well aware of that fact. And it’s admirable that you want to maintain your independence. However, it would take you over an hour to walk that distance, and you can’t shift in your current condition. So we’re taking the car.” He said firmly, leaving no room for argument.
Realizing that resistance would be futile, I followed him down the stairs. We climbed into his sleek red sports car, and he expertly maneuvered us away from the territory before turning onto another road that ran parallel to the border.
The drive continued for several more minutes until we finally pulled up outside an impressive campus that looked more like an elite university than a typical school.
“I’ll be here to collect you when classes are finished.” He announced.

“Gage, that’s really not necessary. I can manage the walk back on my own. I’m not helpless.” I insisted, trying to maintain some semblance of independence.
“Fine. But make absolutely certain that Damien understands you declined my offer of transportation.” He said with a knowing look.
“I will definitely make sure he’s fully informed of that decision.” I replied, understanding the underlying message.
When I stepped inside the campus grounds, I was genuinely taken aback by what I encountered. The exterior had been impressive enough, appearing both glamorous and expensive, but the interior resembled something straight out of an elite human Ivy League institution.
Everything was crafted from rich, dark mahogany, with intricate wolf sculptures adorning the ends of the banisters that led up the grand staircases. Elaborate wood carvings depicting various wolf scenes decorated nearly every available surface, creating an atmosphere that was both sophisticated and distinctly supernatural. “Elena.” Someone called out cheerfully. I turned around to find Leo approaching me, one of the guys Chloe had introduced me to during my earlier visit.
“Hey there.” I responded warmly.
“What class do you have scheduled now?” He inquired. I pulled out my class schedule and handed it to him for examination.
“That’s perfect. We’re in the same business class together.” He said with obvious
enthusiasm.
“That’s convenient.” I agreed.
Leo and I began making our way toward our classroom, and I was genuinely grateful for his guidance because the campus layout was incredibly confusing, like navigating through an elaborate maze.
“Did you have any trouble getting here this morning?” He asked conversationally.
“No problems at all. Gage was kind enough to drive me.” I explained.
“That was thoughtful of him. You two appear to have developed quite a close friendship.” He observed.
“We have become much closer recently. It’s difficult to avoid when you’re living under the same roof with someone.” I said honestly.

“I can definitely understand that situation. But perhaps there’s something important you should be aware of regarding that particular guy and his reputation as quite the player.” Leo said, his tone carrying a warning.
“Oh, I’m already fully informed about that aspect of his personality. Damien and I frequently refer to him as the man–whore.” I said with a laugh.
“Alpha Damien?” He asked, his eyebrows raising slightly.
“Yes, Alpha Damien.” I confirmed, then caught myself. “Actually, sorry about that. He was originally introduced to me simply as Damien. He specifically told me not to use his Alpha title. I realize I need to start adjusting to that now that I’m officially part of the pack.” I explained.
“I see. I was beginning to get the impression that perhaps you two might be more than just friends.” He said carefully.
“Would that really be such a significant problem?” I asked, curious about his reaction. Leo looked at me intently for several long moments before looking away without providing an answer to my question.
That response worried me considerably. I didn’t want this guy developing romantic feelings toward me, or anything along those lines. I certainly didn’t want him getting the wrong impression about what I might be looking for in our friendship.
He had no knowledge of my pregnancy, and I knew that information would likely be an immediate deterrent for any potential suitor. Not that I could blame anyone for that
reaction.
We finally reached our first classroom, and he gallantly held the door open for me as we entered and found our seats.
Leo made a point of sitting directly beside me, and he seemed somewhat overprotective whenever another male student glanced in my direction.
The student body included people from various regions across the country who had come to attend this particular pack’s educational facility, so there were many unfamiliar faces surrounding us.
I tried to appear oblivious to his protective behavior while focusing my attention on the actual class material. After all, my education was my primary objective here.
