149 Chapter 149 United We Rise
Elena’s POV 1
When we returned to the packhouse, I headed straight for the bathroom, desperate to wash away the tension from our confrontation. The hot water had barely started flowing when I heard the door open behind me. Damien stepped into the shower without a word.
His arms wrapped around me from behind, and I melted against his chest. His lips found the curve of my shoulder, pressing gentle kisses against my damp skin.
“I owe you an apology,” he murmured against my neck.
“For what?” I turned slightly in his arms.
“For doubting you. For not trusting what you were telling me.” His voice carried genuine regret.
I shook my head. “You don’t need to apologize. I know how impossible it all
sounded.”
“But now we have proof. Now we know you were right all along. We’re going to bring her home.” His grip tightened around me.
“What if she refuses to come back with us?” The question had been eating at me since we left.
“Then we’ll find another way. We’ll have to show her that we’re not the monsters she believes we are. We’ll prove that she belongs with us, that she’s
one of us.”
“That’s going to be harder than you think,” I said, feeling the weight of the challenge ahead.
He spun me around so I faced him, water cascading down both our bodies. “But we’ll make it happen. I know you, Elena. You won’t give up on this. Not until you see her safe.”

His hands cupped my face, thumbs brushing across my cheekbones.
“I never said we were giving up. I’m just being realistic about how difficult this will be.”
“I know,” he said softly. “But we’ve faced impossible odds before.”
We finished washing in comfortable silence, both lost in our own thoughts about the road ahead. After drying off, Damien walked to his side of the bed while I lingered in the bathroom doorway, wrapped in a towel, watching him.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, noticing my stare as he reached for his hair.
“Nothing at all.”
He moved toward the dresser to grab sleep clothes, but I was quicker. I snatched the shorts from his hands before he could put them on.
“You won’t be needing those tonight,” I said, letting them fall to the floor.
“Is that so?” His eyebrow arched, and I caught the spark of interest in his dark
eyes.
Instead of answering, I placed my hands on his chest and pushed him backward onto the bed. He landed with a surprised grunt, but before he could sit up, I climbed over him, straddling his hips.
My mouth crashed against his, and his response was immediate. His arms encircled my waist, fingers finding the edge of my towel and pulling it away. The fabric joined his discarded shorts on the floor.
In one smooth motion, he flipped our positions, his body covering mine as his lips traced a burning path down my throat. When he reached my breast, I gasped, my back arching off the mattress. His tongue circled my nipple while his hand massaged the other, drawing sounds from me that I couldn’t control.
He returned to my mouth, and our tongues danced together in a familiar rhythm that never grew old. After all this time together, he could still make my entire body come alive with just a touch.

He positioned himself and entered me in one smooth thrust, making me cry out and arch against him. The sensation was overwhelming, like lightning coursing through my veins.
His movements were urgent, desperate, as if he needed to claim me all over again after the uncertainty of the day. My skin felt electric under his touch, every nerve ending on fire.
We shifted closer to the edge of the bed, and suddenly he was standing, lifting my legs to rest on his shoulders. From this angle, he could drive deeper, and I watched his face contort with pleasure as he moved within me.
A low growl rumbled from his chest as his eyes roamed over my body. He leaned down to capture my lips again, never breaking his rhythm.
Then he was pulling me up, spinning me around so I was on my hands and knees. I heard him fumble in the bedside drawer, the crinkle of foil, and then he was back, filling me again from behind.
I buried my face in the bedding, muffling my cries as sensation overwhelmed me. His hand traced the length of my spine, sending shivers through my entire body. I could feel myself climbing higher, getting closer to that edge where everything would shatter.
The stress of the day, the fear about what lay ahead, all of it melted away under his touch. This was what I needed, what we both needed. This connection that reminded us we were in this together, no matter what challenges we faced.
His pace increased, and I knew he was close too. My fingers twisted in the sheets as waves of pleasure built inside me, threatening to crash over me at any moment.
“Elena,” he groaned my name, and the sound pushed me over the edge.
The climax hit me like a tidal wave, my body trembling as pleasure consumed every part of me. Damien followed moments later, his body tensing as he found his own release.

We collapsed together on the bed, breathing hard, our bodies still
intertwined. He pulled me against his chest, and I felt safe for the first time since this whole mess began.
Tomorrow we would face the impossible task of bringing her home. But
tonight, we had each other, and that was enough.
