5 your hers
Everyone in the hall stared at me in shock. Their mouths dropped open. Rafe stepped back quick. Elias raked his fingers through his hair. Alice crossed her arms tight. Kade furrowed his eyebrows and leaned forward. I shifted on my feet and felt my stomach drop hard. My hands shook as I looked at Linda on the table.
“Oh my God that’s what has happened to me,” I said. I turned to Damien and grabbed his arm, hand trembling. “What are you talking about? What do you mean I stabbed you?”
Linda sat up slow on the table, wincing from the pain. She looked at me with furrowed eyebrows. “You really don’t remember?”
I shook my head fast. “No. Nothing. We were walking and then black. I woke up and you were like this. Tell me what happened. Please.”
Linda leaned back against the pillow Alice shoved under her head. She took a deep breath. “Okay. We were heading out for a task. Nothing big. Just something Damien needed done quiet.”
Alice interrupted. “What task? You two disappeared without saying anything.”
Linda waved her hand. “Doesn’t matter now. Anyway, we were on the path when we heard rumbling in the bushes. We panicked thinking it was a rogue attack. I pulled my knives out fast, ready to fight.”
I nodded quick. “I remember that part. The noise.”
Linda continued. “Yeah. But then I saw it was just a deer. I started laughing. I turned to you and said oh my goodness look at how jumpy we are and it’s just a deer. I was joking about how I would protect you always. Like big sister vibes.”
Rafe crossed his arms. “Then what?”
Linda furrowed her eyebrows more. “Then your face went dark. You looked at me weird. You said but can you protect yourself from me?”
I gasped and covered my mouth. “I said what?”
Linda nodded slow. “Yeah. I asked you what you were talking about. You were smiling the whole time. Before I could think you grabbed the knife from me. So much power. I’ve never seen anything like it. You stabbed me right in the shoulder.”
Everyone gasped again. Elias leaned forward. “She stabbed you? On purpose?”
Linda wiped sweat from her forehead. “Yeah. And you were smiling. You said you should have thought about it twice before agreeing to come with me. That’s the last I remember before it felt like the air left my lungs. Everything went black.”
I backed up a step and raked my fingers through my hair hard. Tears spilled over. “No. That’s not me I wouldn’t do that. Linda you’re my friend. I wouldn’t hurt you.”
Alice stepped closer. “This doesn’t make sense. You blacked out too? Both of you? This is bullshit. There’s no way you don’t remember -”

Damien crossed his arms. “We’ll figure it out. Linda rest. Healer said you need time.”
Alice raked her fingers through her hair. “We need the elders now. This is bigger than us.
Damien shook his head. “Not yet. We investigate first.”
I shifted on my feet. “What if it happens again? What if she hurt someone else? You can’t protect her from-
“I said I’ll deal with it!” He suddenly raised his voice causing everyone to flinch.
I stood there shaking, tears still falling as Linda finished her story. Everyone stared at me in shock. Rafe stepped back slow. Elias raked his fingers through his hair and looked away. Kade crossed his arms tight, eyes narrow. Alice furrowed her eyebrows and leaned forward.
“You’re lying about forgetting. Alice said. “That story doesn’t add up. But since you’re his Luna I’ll stay mute for now.”
I gasped and wiped my face. “I’m not lying. I swear.”
Alice shook her head once and turned away. She walked out of the room fast. Rafe and Elias followed her without a word. Kade looked at me one more time, then left too. The door shut hard behind them.
I felt my knees buckle. “They hate me. They think I did it on purpose.”
Damien grabbed my arm to steady me. “Sit down.”
I sat on the chair and raked my fingers through my hair hard. “Oh my god. They’re suspicious. What if they tell everyone?”
He knelt in front of me. “This is bigger than I thought.”
I looked at him with wide eyes. “What’s going to happen to me?”
He stood up and crossed his arms. “Just rest. I’ll let you know once I figure it out.”
I nodded slow but tears kept coming. “Okay. But promise you’ll tell me everything.”
He nodded once. “I will.”
