I stared at him. My hand went flat against the cold floor beside me while I looked up at his face like maybe I had seen it wrong, just for one second.

Kade.

It was really Kade. My chest started rising faster and I pushed myself back on my palms, my knees dragging against the ground.

My mouth opened but nothing came out at first. My brain kept trying to make sense of it. “What the hell?” I said it again under my breath, shaking my head.

He stood there, scarred face calm, like this was normal. Like he hadn’t just dragged me here. One hand stayed in his pocket while he looked down at me.

“I thought seeing a familiar face would help you feel better,” he said.

I blinked hard. “What the hell? You thought this would help me feel better? Damien has been suffering because of you! The whole pack has been suffering because of you!” I shoved myself fully upright as I spoke, my voice getting louder with every word.

He crouched down in front of me, slow and steady. “At first I wanted to bring you here just to get back at him. But Sienna, I’ve been seeing you in the packhouse. How beautiful you look.” He rested one forearm over his knee, eyes fixed on my face.

He reached out and held my chin, forcing me to look at him. His grip was firm. His thumb brushed my jaw. I jerked against his hand and glared at him with furrowed eyebrows.

“And now I’ve come to see that I want you for myself.”

I slapped him hard across the face.

The sound cracked loud in the room. His head jerked to the side. When he turned back, he was smiling. A slow, evil smile that made my skin crawl. I wiped my palm against my jeans.

He rubbed his cheek once. “You should eat something,” he said, nodding toward the tray on the floor. “And prepare yourself. You’re going to be here for a while.”

I stared at him, chest rising fast. “You’re insane. You really think I’m just going to stay here? Damien is going to find me. He’s going to kill you for this.” I pointed at him with a shaking hand and took one step back.

Kade stood up and walked to the door. He didn’t look scared. He looked amused. “Damien has a lot on his plate right now. The war. The pack falling apart. He won’t even know where to start looking.”

I pushed myself up from the floor, legs shaky. “You don’t know him. He’ll tear this place apart to get to me.”

He opened the door and stepped halfway out. “Eat. You’ll need your strength.”

I grabbed the tray and threw it at him. Food splattered across the floor. The plate broke. “Fuck you! I’m not eating anything you give me!” My arm shook after I threw it.

He looked down at the mess, then back at me. That same smile stayed on his face. “Suit yourself.”

He closed the door. The lock clicked.

I stood there for a second, breathing hard. Then I ran to the door and banged on it with both fists. “Let me out! Kade! Let me out right now!” I hit it again and again until my hands started to sting.

No answer.

I kept hitting the door. “Damien! Damien, please! Somebody help me!” My voice broke in the middle and I pressed my forehead to the door for one second before hitting it again.

My voice cracked. I slid down the door and sat on the floor, pulling my knees to my chest. Tears burned my eyes. I wiped them fast with my sleeve but more came. My shoulders kept jerking every time I tried to breathe.

“This can’t be happening,” I whispered. “This can’t be happening.”

I sat there for a long time, crying quietly. When the tears finally stopped I stood up and looked around the room. It was small. Concrete walls. One bed. One small table. No windows. I checked every corner, every inch of the floor, looking for anything I could use. Nothing. No loose pipes, no sharp edges, no way out.

I gave up and sat back down on the bed. My hands wouldn’t stop shaking. I raked my fingers through my hair and pulled hard at the roots. My elbows rested on my knees while I tried not to cry again.

“Why is this happening to me?” I muttered. “Why does Kade want me? He hates me. He’s always hated me.”

I hugged my knees again. The room felt smaller by the minute. I kept thinking about Damien. About how he must be looking for me right now. About how angry he would be when he found out Kade took me. I pressed my face against my knees and squeezed my eyes shut.

“Please find me,” I whispered. “Please.” My fingers dug into my sleeves until the fabric twisted in my fists.

The door opened again.

I jumped up fast and backed away.

Kade stepped inside. He closed the door behind him. His eyes moved over me, taking in the mess, the broken plate, the food still on the floor.

I pressed my back against the wall. “Stay away from me.” I lifted my chin even though my legs were shaking,

He walked toward me anyway. Slow. Calm.

I kept moving back until I couldn’t anymore. “What do you want from me? Why are you doing this?” My fingers scraped the wall behind me.

He stopped right in front of me. “I already told you. I want you for myself.”

I shook my head. “You’re crazy. You’re actually crazy.” I stared up at him.

He reached out and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. I flinched hard.

“Don’t touch me,” I snapped. I slapped his hand away and pressed myself flatter against the wall.

He smiled again. That same evil smile. “You’re going to be here for a while, Sienna. You might as well get used

to it.”

I stared at him, breathing fast. My hands curled into fists at my sides.

He turned and walked back to the door.

“Eat something when you’re ready,” he said over his shoulder. “You’re no good to me if you starve.”

The door clicked shut behind him.

I stayed pressed against the wall, heart racing, trying to understand how any of this was real. Then I dragged both hands through my hair, stumbled back to the bed, and sat down hard, staring at the door.
