Chapter 60
“Stop.”
“Yep. Appologizing. I didn’t know you were drugged till later. I’m sorry, okay? We were… in the heat of the moment.”
I side eyed him, with a sigh, my nail tapping the mug.
“Whatever,” I mumbled. At least we could just move on from this.
“But,” He said. “At least we can move on from whatever your little show was.
I froze mid sip. “What?” Sliding out of the bed so fast he blinked. “What are you-No. Ahow?! Are…you still on about that? What, are you deciding we’re suddenly together? Like together together?”
His eyes squinted. “I mean, I did claim you. We never really stopped being-”
“Yes we DID.” I set the coffee down with a huff and grabbed my discarded heels from the floor. “We absolutely, definitely did. In fact, we were never a ‘we’ in the first place!”
Dominic’s expression hardened. “We’re fated, Ellie. And I claimed-”
“And that was YOUR choice, not mine!”
His jaw clenched. “What was last night? You felt that.”
I swallowed the fire, the memories of how good last night felt down, instead turning around with a snarl. “I was DRUGGED. Which means legally, magically, romantically, and spiritually, that does NOT count!”
He opened his mouth, ready to argue.
I held up a hand this time. “Save it. I’m leaving.”
“You can’t just-”
“Oh, WATCH ME.”
I stormed past him, praying no one was asleep in the hallway, because if someone saw me leaving Dominic’s room at dawn in last nights dress, I would simply lay down and die.
He followed me to the door. “Ellie, hey, we need to talk about what happened.”
“No. We don’t.”
“Ellie,” he said quietly, “I don’t know why your mad. I stopped as soon as I knew.”
“Not the point!” I snapped. “Besides if you hadn’t, I would have stabbed you the next morening with the nearest kitchen utensil.”
He blinked. “Hot. But alarming. Seriously, we should-”
I groaned and shoved the door open.
“I’m going to figure out who drugged me,” I said without looking back. “And then I’m going to pretend this night never happened.”
“Ellie.”

“No. Seriously. Never. Happened.”
I marched down the corridor, heels slapping stone, heart racing so hard it hurt.
I squared my shoulders.
I would make Dominic reject me.
I would focus on my Healer Academy future.
I would live my own life.
And whatever happened last night?
Dead. Buried. Gone.
But even as I turned the corner, I could feel his gaze burning into my back.
And I… could feel the bond tremble, like it was holding on.
Vivian POV
I’d been waiting far too long.
Cold bit at my hands as I rubbed my shoulder.
Stupid Ellie.
I’d set everything up perfectly in Lucas’s dorm, but when the photographer finally arrived, Dominic had already whisked her away. I nearly threw a pan.
Now I was here, sleepless and furious, and then she came stumbling out of Dominic’s dorm like a thief escaping a
crime scene.
I pressed myself against the stone corner and watched her. Hair askew, clothes wrinkled, cheeks flushed. She kept glancing over her shoulder, jittery and guilty.
Not triumphant.
Shaken.
My stomach flipped. No. Dominic wouldn’t actually-
(Why would he?)
I forced a smile until my jaw ached. She probably threw herself at him, did that pathetic wide-eyed routine Dominic isn’t that stupid. He wouldn’t what we have for her.
…Right?
She hurried across the courtyard, planning to vanish behind a fountain. Only then did I breathe again. My fingers trembled; I curled them tight.
“Relax,” I whispered. “He didn’t sleep with her. He wouldn’t ruin everything for her.”
But something still clawed under my ribs.
I needed to regain control.

And then, like the universe adored me, two Healer Academy girls walked past the end of the hall deep in gossip. One of them had a sharp little chin, a too-proud ponytail, and that pathetic Beta-daughter entitlement that made her easy to manipulate.
Karina…hm.
Perfect.
