Chapter 308
Ellie’s POV
“Yes,” Amy said. “A sleepover. One night this week. I think it could be really beneficial for you both.”
I looked at Dominic. He was staring at Amy like she’d just suggested we run naked through the pack grounds. It certainly felt that way.
“That’s… Unconventional,” I muttered.
Amy smiled. Maybe. But sometimes unconventional is exactly what you need.” She closed her notebook and stood. “Think about it. I’ll see you both next week.”
The session ended, and Dominic left to see Amy out. I sat there for a long moment, thinking about her request. A sleepover. Like the sort of things kids did.
The last time Dominic and I had spent a night together, in the same room, let alone the same bed, had been… pretty disastrous. I had barely set foot in his room since that night that his parents broke the lock on the door, forcing us to sleep together.
“Ellie.” I lifted my head to see that Dominic had returned. He was standing in the doorway, looking somewhat sheepish.
I stood, turning to him. “We don’t have to do that sleepover,” I said.
He tilted his head. “Why not?”
“Because…” I hesitated. I supposed I didn’t have an answer for that.
Dominic’s lips curved. “Ellie, it’s just a sleepover.”
“It’s not just a sleepover, and you know that,” I said. “The last time we shared a room, you told me how much you wanted to have sex with me.”
His brow quirked. “Is that what it would take to make you trust me again?” he asked. “A night where I don’t try to touch you or make any advances? Because, Ellie, I can make that happen.”
I flushed and looked away. “If it would just be a sleepover, then I’d consider it.”
I swore I heard him laugh, but he was already turning to leave.
I didn’t see Dominic again all day. I honestly thought that he had either forgotten entirely about the idea, or maybe he came to the same conclusion I had, which was that it was silly and pointless, and it wouldn’t save our dumpster fire of a “marriage”.
It wasn’t until sunset that I saw him again. Or rather, he sent his Beta to fetch me.
“Luna Ellie.” His Beta knocked on my bedroom doorframe, as I’d left the door open halfway. I looked up from the book I was reading and saw him standing there. “The Alpha has asked me to fetch you.”
“To fetch me.” I shut my book. “For what?”
“He just asked me to have you come to the living room.” He paused, then pulled something out from behind his back. “Oh, and he asked me to have you put these on.”
I took the item, which wound up being a brand new pajama set. The fabric was printed with tiny dinosaurs and palm trees.
“What the…” I glanced up at the Beta, but he was already gone.
Curiosity piqued, I put on the pajamas and made my way downstairs. The smell of popcorn hit my nostrils before I even made it to the landing. I bit my cheek and knocked twice on the living room door, then poked my head inside.
Dominic was standing in the middle of the room, surrounded by an entire feast worth of snacks. I spotted takeout pizza, popcorn, bags of chips, all of the unhealthy things that neither of us normally ate. A movie was paused on the TV and the

furniture had been pushed out of the way to make room on the floor for a large picnic blanket and two sleeping bags.
“Well?” He stretched his arms wide as I entered. “What do you think?”
I stood there for a moment, just staring at the spread. He really had gone out. There were even board games sitting in the middle of the blanket. And a rather expensive-looking bottle of wine, I had to admit.
“I… Um…”
“Do you like it?” Dominic asked.
“It’s…” I looked around, surprised by all of it. The Dominic I used to know never would have done something like this. The very mention of ordering pizza or playing a board game meant for kids would have made the Dominic from my past life roll his eyes.
But now here he was. Standing in the living room in a matching pajama set to the one I was wearing. Waiting for my reaction with hope in his eyes.
“Dominic,” I said, “this is… This is really nice.”
He seemed relieved. “Good. I was worried you wouldn’t like the pajamas.”
“I mean…” I looked down at mine, then at his. “They’re interesting, I’ll give you that.”
“It was all I could find on such short notice, okay?” he laughed.
I couldn’t help it. A small laugh bubbled out of me, the first I’d felt in a while. His smile softened a little, and he sat on one of the sleeping bags, gesturing for me to sit on the other.
