Bryan helped Ethan sit down and handed him a glass of warm water. “Dad, I assume you signed the papers. Good. Now you can finally stay home with Mom. I’m resigning tomorrow. From now on, whether the Sands live or die is none of our business.”

Once things settled down, Bryan took Ethan and Marie on a trip to clear their heads. The weight that had been crushing his parents for years was finally gone. They looked more relaxed than ever.
