100 Do Not Move

Sera

I dropped the heavy wool blanket. It pooled on the floor next to the chair.

I straddled his thick thighs. The thin cotton of my sleep tunic rode all the way up to my hips. My bare thighs pressed directly against the rough, dark wool of his pants. I rested my knees on the edges of his

chair.

He settled his hands firmly on my hips. His large thumbs rested just under my hip bones.

I let out a long, shaky breath. I rested my hands flat against his broad chest. I could feel his heart beating with a slow, incredibly heavy rhythm under his grey shirt.

“Your feet are freezing,” Fenris grunted. He felt the icy temperature of my skin pressing against his legs.

“The corridors are cold,” I said.

I looked at his face. The orange firelight cast deep shadows across his rugged features. He looked exhausted. The dark circles under his pale eyes were heavy.

“Why are you awake?” I asked him quietly. “You sit at this desk and sharpen a knife that is already sharp.”

Fenris stared at my mouth for a second. Then he looked up into my eyes.

“I sit at this desk and try to figure out how I am going to survive the next three days,” Fenris answered bluntly.

“Are you worried about Chief Vane?” I asked. “Are you worried the council is going to figure out the Kael disguise?”

“I don’t give a fuck about Vane or the council,” Fenris stated. His voice was completely flat.

He moved his hands. He slid his large palms up the sides of my bare thighs, his calloused skin dragging roughly against my flesh. He stopped right at the hem of my thin sleep tunic.

“I am worried about you,” Fenris said.

“I am fine,” I told him.

“You are not fine,” Fenris corrected me immediately. He didn’t raise his voice. He spoke with absolute certainty. “You watched me break a man’s neck You ordered it. You stood in the snow and watched him burn. Now you are awake in the middle of the night, shivering in my lap.”

I looked down at my hands resting against his chest. I traced a thick, raised scar visible through the opening of his shirt.

“I don’t feel guilty,” I confessed. The words felt ugly in my mouth, but they were entirely true. “I thought I would. When I closed my eyes in my room, I saw his face. I saw the blood. But I don’t feel bad that he is dead. I just feel tired.”

“Good,” Fenris said.

I looked back up at him. “Good?”

“He wanted me dead, Sera,” Fenris said. He slid his hands entirely under the hem of my tunic, resting his warm palms completely flat against the bare skin of my waist. “He would have slaughtered me, and then he would have handed you over to the rest of the council to be used or killed. If you felt guilty for surviving him, you would be weak. You are not weak.”

I leaned my weight forward. I rested my forehead directly against his collarbone. I closed my eyes. The sheer, grounding weight of his hands on my waist made the frantic buzzing in my mind completely stop.

Kane used to hate it when I touched him after a council meeting. Kane would drink heavy wine, complain about his elders, and pace the room. If I tried to sit with him, he pushed me away. He told me the politics were too heavy for a girl to understand. He fucked me to relieve his own stress, and then he left me alone in the bed.

Fenris did the exact opposite. He pulled me directly into the center of the violence. He didn’t hide the blood from me. He didn’t treat me like a fragile glass doll. He treated me like a partner.

“I can’t sleep,” I whispered against his skin.

“I know,” Fenris murmured. He turned his head and pressed his mouth against the side of my neck. His rough stubble scraped aggressively against my sensitive flesh.

I shivered.

The heavy, throbbing ache between my legs flared up instantly. The friction of his breathing against my neck sent a direct, violent shock of heat straight to my core. I shifted my hips against his thighs. I ground my pussy down against his lap.

Fenris went completely rigid.

He let out a low, dangerous growl. He gripped my hips hard, his fingers digging into my flesh, holding me completely still.

“Do not move,” Fenris commanded. His voice was a harsh, ragged rasp.

I ignored him. I tilted my pelvis and dragged my wet pussy deliberately across the thick, hard bulge straining against the front of his wool pants.

PATA Bloody Cost

It comes at a bloody cost. My chest tightened painfully. Mina saw the strength. She saw the authority. She didn’t see the sheer, cold-blooded violence it took to secure that authority.

Mina watched me for a moment longer. She realized the conversation had hit a wall. She stood up from the bed and stretched her arms over her head, letting out a tired yawn.

“I should go back to my quarters,” Mina said, moving toward the door. “The kitchens need me early tomorrow. The curing for the wedding feast has to start before dawn.”
