Chapter 4
Kai’s pupils dilated with shock – he hadn’t expected such directness from me.
He let out a surprised laugh, his eyes filled with admiration.
“Of course!”
Without asking questions, he simply left me with, “Wait for me to come claim you as my mate!”
Then he leaped over the wall and disappeared into the night.
The next morning, Kai personally delivered the mating proposal with full ceremony, showing complete respect and clearly demonstrating his devotion to me.
Father was absolutely delighted.
立
Originally, he’d hoped for me to mate with Adrian, but his public pursuit of a servant’s daughter showed he wasn’t worthy of trust.
The Fourth Prince, however, appeared completely sincere.

The mating gifts had barely been sent when countless chests of treasures began arriving at our pack house, so many that even our storerooms couldn’t
hold them all.

Thinking of reciprocity, I decided to visit the capital’s most luxurious shops to choose an appropriate mating gift for him.
I’d just entered the store when I spotted a blue leather belt.
Simple and elegant in design, inlaid with three perfectly matched sapphire gems – understated yet noble.
I was satisfied as I placed it in its box, preparing to leave.
But then I ran straight into Adrian and Stella.
Though Adrian could barely walk independently, his face was still ghastly pale with hints of sickly gray.
Seeing the blue belt in my hands, he smirked smugly.
“I heard your pack has been busy preparing for a mating ceremony, with dowries flowing like water into your pack house. Clearly, you were just playing hard to get before…”
“But let me remind you – your dowry cannot exceed Stella’s, since she’s the Luna!”
“As for that belt… you’re too late. Stella already personally crafted one for me. You can keep yours!”
Stella giggled behind her hand at Adrian’s obvious favoritism.
“Oh no, Your Highness, let her give it to you anyway. You could always use it to reward a servant later…”
“Stella makes a good point.”
Adrian reached out to take it, but I quickly snapped the box shut.
“Future Alpha King, this isn’t for you…”
“Not for me? Then who else could it be for? Luna Grey, when did you learn such manipulative games?”
Adrian withdrew his hand with annoyance, still mocking me.
“Tine, be stubborn if you want. Your belongings disgust me anyway!”
With that, he pulled Stella past me dismissively.
I sat calmly in my car, and we’d barely traveled a few steps when chaos erupted behind us.
Stella’s shrill screams pierced the air: “Your Highness! What’s wrong? Someone help!”
“Guards! Emergency!”
