Brandon thought for a moment and said, “We can’t use House of Heart and the packaging plant to pressure her anymore…”
“Then I’ll do it.” Daniel cut him off without leaving room for discussion.
Brandon knew better than anyone that once his father took action, his methods would definitely be more cruel than his.
He clenched his fist. “I know what to do.”
Shelby saw Daniel off and returned to the president’s office, where she found Brandon smoking. Her face was full of worry.
She said, “Even though I’m mad at Matilda too, the ones living at House of Heart and the packaging plant are all disabled people… Brandon, I really feel sorry for them.”
Brandon lowered his eyes, his gaze like a deep pool shrouded in mist. “It’s only to delay Matilda’s progress, nothing more.”
“I know you wouldn’t do this unless there was no other choice.” Shelby acted as though she truly sympathized with the disabled.
Brandon knew that Shelby had always been a kind and loving girl.
So he lifted his gaze and said to her, “I’ll leave this matter to you, then.”
Shelby’s eyes filled with compassion, and she nodded in agreement.
After leaving the president’s office, the sharpness in her eyes gradually emerged.
Tuesday, 9:00 am.
From the front desk of Coreline Eternity to the production line, everything was in a hurry
In the area covered by full surveillance cameras, Matilda waited outside.
Matilda had to go through three doors to meet the front desk staff.
“Ms. Warren, Ms. Jackson from Crossen Technology has brought people to urge you to pay the second installment of the debt.
The receptionist had no idea what debt this was. Ms. Jackson was off-putting, smiling pleasantly while doing cruel things.
She said that if the debt wasn’t paid by noon, Matilda’s family’s medical assistance would be cut off…
Matilda immediately guessed that it was Brandon’s delaying tactic.
The real goal wasn’t money. It was to use the disabled residents of House of Heart and the packaging plant to throw her into another crisis, so she couldn’t focus on her work.
Brandon knew exactly how to press on her soft spots. She was already torn.
On one side were the earthquake survivors. On the other side was her breakthrough new technology. She didn’t want to lose

After a long silence, Matilda said, “Tell Ms. Jackson, I don’t have the money. If Brandon isn’t afraid of ruining Crossen Technology’s reputation, then let him do whatever he wants with House of Heart and the packaging plant.”
After saying that. Matilda re-entered the room.
That night at 8 pm, Matilda handed her laptop to Neil.
She said, “All the data and materials are here. Keep them safe.”
Neil didn’t take it, remaining silent. Matilda shoved the computer into his arms.
Neil was afraid of dropping the computer, so he reluctantly hugged it. His slightly furrowed brow faintly revealed a bit of
anger.
He said. “Ms. Warren, what could be so urgent that you can’t wait two more days? Tell me what it is. I’ll do it for you. Singularity 2 is your achievement. I don’t want to take credit.”
It was definitely the longest thing Neil had ever said.
Matilda was touched. In the workplace, to still have such an honest and upright comrade-in-arms…
She knew that once she left Coreline Eternity, she would no longer be a core technician for Singularity 2.
But if she lost this technology, she could always develop new ones.
However, she had to take care of the elders in the Domburgh House of Heart, whose children had all died in the earthquake.
Matilda smiled slightly. “Don’t fuss like an old granny. Just make sure you succeed, alright? Don’t let me end up with nothing on both sides.”
Neil was silent for a few seconds. Seeing that Matilda was determined to leave, he reluctantly said, “Got it.”
Matilda nodded and turned to walk out of the first door.
Her footsteps paused. Neil watched her from inside the door, hoping she would change her mind and come back.
But Matilda raised her foot and walked out of the second door.
This time, there was no more hesitation.
Immediately following was the third door. She exited the Coreline Eternity main entrance and went straight towards the airport.
Upon receiving the news, Rufus quickly called his top superior.
That person’s voice was soft, the speech was unhurried, and there was a hint of tenderness in it. “Her decision must have been carefully considered. Respect it. Don’t interfere…”

Greg told Brandon that Matilda had gone to Domburgh.

There wasn’t a trace of surprise on Brandon’s face.

Matilda valued family above all. All the regret of not being able to care for her own parents, she poured into helping the survivors. She would never allow the slightest harm to come to them.
But Shelby was also in Domburgh. If she clashed with Matilda, she might suffer a loss.
Thoughtful as ever, Greg said, “Don’t worry, Mr. Grimes. I’ve arranged four people to protect Ms. Jackson.”
Brandon nodded, finally feeling a little relieved.
Meanwhile, Matilda arrived at Domburgh’s House of Heart close to 1 am.
Brandon and Shelby were even more ruthless than she had expected.
In the middle of the night, they had cut off treatment and medication for several elderly chronic patients.
Shelby was still there, pretending to be a saint, saying, “I didn’t want to do this either, but Matilda betrayed Crossen Technology… The company is truly short on funds, so we had to temporarily suspend aid. Once we get through this crisis, we’ll continue to support everyone.”
Fear and panic filled the faces of the residents.
But still, they said firmly, “Matilda would never betray Crossen Technology. She and Mr. Grimes are loving and happy together.”
“Matilda is everyone’s child. Don’t think you can bully her just because she has no parents.”
“If you dare to say another bad word about Matilda, we’ll kick you out.”
With such a lovely group of people, Matilda felt that she would never regret doing anything for them.
“Matilda?”
“Matilda, why are you here?”
A cheer of joy erupted.
Matilda smiled at everyone before walking up to Shelby.
Shelby was a smart woman. She knew this was Domburgh, Matilda’s turf, so she didn’t dare to be confrontational.
Anyway, she had already done what she needed to do, so she took her men and left triumphantly.
Matilda looked back, staring at Shelby’s back.
Her face was calm, but she had a slight smile, as if it was telling an unspeakable story.
She thought, ‘Good. You’ve delivered yourself right to me…’
