Chapter 114
Eliana had really blacked out from drinking. She slept like a log all the way until morning.
When she woke up, she pushed herself up, and her head throbbed painfully.
She pressed a hand to her forehead, but she honestly had no idea how she’d gotten home.

She leaned back against the headboard, staring at the ceiling, racking her brain to remember how she got home last night.
But no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t remember how she made it back. Instead, some blurry, intimate moments kept flashing through her mind at the worst possible times.
The memory of Nathan leaning in close and kissing her made Ellana’s cheeks instantly flush.
She quickly pushed that absurd scene out of her mind, then jumped out of bed and rushed to freshen up.
Her thoughts were all over the place. She had no idea why that scene kept invading her mind. Unable to make sense of it, Eliana just figured it must have been a dream she had last night.
Just realizing she’d dreamed something like that made her face feel even hotter.
Even though she’d sworn off getting tangled up with Logan ever again now, the divorce still wasn’t finalized. So she really shouldn’t be letting herself think about things like that.
After she finished washing up, Eliana leaned against the wall and took a deep breath.
As she thought back, her mind kept replaying that night they spent drinking together at the bar.
Just thinking about that bar made her heart skip a beat.
It had been ages since anyone actually cared about what she said, let alone truly valued her words.
Even after two lifetimes, all she ever got from Logan was cold indifference, and he always drew lines between them.
Even when she was on her deathbed in her previous life, she never felt a shred of warmth from him.
Maybe it was the way Logan always kept his distance that made Nathan’s kindness hit her so much harder, stirring up feelings she just couldn’t suppress.
Her thoughts were all over the place. Eliana leaned against the wall, her mind wandering far away.
It wasn’t until a knock sounded at the door and Sarah’s worried voice called out that Eliana snapped back to reality.
She took a deep breath, pushed down all those tangled emotions then quickly answered and walked over to open the door.
“Eliana, how are you? Are you feeling okay? Does your head hur Sarah asked, her eyes full of worry as she looked at Eliana.
Eliana’s head was still throbbing a little, but she didn’t want Sara to worry, so she shook her head firmly. “Mom, I’m fine. Sorry, I drank too much last night. Did I scare you and Dad?”
Sarah said, “Not really, but it’s okay once in a while. Just don’t drink that much again.
“Drinking too much is bad for your health, and it’s not safe for a young woman to be out alone and drunk,” she added.
Listening to Sarah fuss, Eliana smiled and nodded. “Okay, no matter how old I get, I’ll always be your little girl.”
Sarah smiled, “Of course! You’re only twenty–seven, still just a young woman. And with how gorgeous you are, Mom has to

worry about you more than most.”
Eliana could tell that Sarah had been in a much better mood lately, even joking around with her now.
It was nothing like before, when Sarah used to walk on eggshells around her.
Thinking about how much of a jerk she used to be, Eliana honestly wished she could just go back and slap her old self.
She really couldn’t figure out how she managed to be such a jerk back then.
But at least things were better now.
As Sarah spoke, she took Eliana’s hand. “Breakfast is ready. Your dad even asked them to make you some warm milk. He said it helps with hangovers, so you should feel a lot better after you drink it.”
Eliana’s smile grew even brighter. “Okay. Dad is the best.”
“Your sweet talk is getting better and better. If your dad heard you say that, he’d be grinning from ear to ear,” Sarah said.
Seeing how cheerful Sarah was, Eliana figured Nathan probably wasn’t the one who brought her home last night.
If Nathan had been the one to bring her home, Sarah definitely wouldn’t have just brushed off her getting drunk as if it were nothing.
With that thought in mind, Eliana finally worked up the courage to ask, “Mom, I can’t really remember. How did I get home last night?
“I think I really blacked out.”
Sarah replied, “Irene brought you back. Speaking of which, that’s perfect timing. If you’re heading out later, could you take the things we got for Irene with you? Her law firm is pretty close to yours, isn’t it?
“She is out here all by herself, working hard with no one to help her. It’s really tough. She always acts as if nothing bothers her, but she’s actually really thoughtful and sensitive.
“Before, you… Anyway, just try to have her over for dinner more often, okay? So she doesn’t have to handle everything on her own.”
Eliana nodded, fully understanding what Sarah hadn’t said out loud.
Back then, she and Irene argued a lot because of Logan.
With the two of them always fighting, Sarah and Wesley naturally felt uncomfortable getting close to Irene.
The way she acted back then didn’t just make things hard for her parents. It made life tough for her best friend, too.
Looking back now, Eliana honestly felt like she’d been out of her mind back then. She couldn’t even recognize herself from those days.
She followed Sarah downstairs and saw a table full of beautifully prepared breakfast. She couldn’t help but smile.
This was pure happiness.
The past six years had really worn her out, especially after Samuel was born. She couldn’t just roll out of bed and have breakfast waiting. She’d have to drag herself up early to make breakfast for Samuel and Logan herself.
When it came to breakfast, those two were exactly the same, picky as ever. Most of the time, they wouldn’t even touch what the servants made, so it was always up to her to make something they’d actually eat.

She never complained and always did everything herself, but for all she gave, she never really got anything back.
And at the end of the day, she was only human, and she got tired too.
She used to hold on for her son, but now she’d finally let go. Eliana realized just how nice it was to go back to her old routine.
After downing a bowl of warm milk, Eliana felt instantly refreshed.
“Dad, is this the warm milk you made for me? This really hit the pot. Thanks, Dad,” Eliana said.
Wesley had been sneaking glances at her ever since she picked up the bowl. When he heard her say that, he kept pretending to be absorbed in his magazine, but the smile on his face was impossible to hide.
Sarah and Eliana both caught it, but neither of them said a word
The warmth of the moment filled Eliana with happiness that she couldn’t even describe. Even breakfast seemed to taste better.
Turns out, love really does go both ways. She used to think her husband and son were the ones closest to her, but now she finally saw how wrong she’d been.
