Eliana didn’t dare to get into it with Nathan right now, worried her parents might overhear them from the kitchen.
She knew all too well just how cheeky Nathan could be. If she really tried to stand her ground, he wouldn’t care at all if her parents caught them.
She’d already learned that the hard way at the hospital.
With no other option, Eliana gave in, shooting Nathan a look as she said, “Didn’t my mom ask me to show about that?”
Nathan agreed, “Show me your room.”
He said it like it was no big deal, but Eliana’s face fell, and she shouted, “You…”
you
around? How
Noticing her blushing cheeks, Nathan jumped in first and said, “Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m honestly just curious about your room.”
Leaning in even closer to whisper in her ear, Nathan added, “If I really wanted to make a move, I wouldn’t need to wait until we’re in your room.”
“Nathan!” Eliana gritted her teeth in frustration.
But Nathan loved seeing her get all riled up and show her claws. It made her seem so much more alive.
He reached out and gently tapped her nose, then said thoughtfully, “I won’t tease you anymore. I’m just genuinely curious about what your room looks like. I bet it’s really cozy.”
Looking at Nathan right then, Eliana couldn’t help but think of the memories he’d once shared with her about his past.
Nathan had spent his childhood constantly on the move with his mom, never settling down anywhere, never really knowing what it felt like to have a real home.
For some reason, Eliana felt her heart go out to him in that moment.
So when Nathan said that, she softly replied, “Okay.”
With that, she turned and headed toward the stairs.
Seeing this, Nathan reached out and took her hand.
Eliana didn’t look back or try to pull away. She just led him upstairs.
She thought, ‘If it hadn’t been for that whole kidnapping mess, I wouldn’t have even dreamed that Nathan and I might ever get back together.
‘Seriously, the thought never even crossed my mind.
‘It isn’t like I’m selling herself short. It’s just that life doesn’t always play fair.
I’m a divorced mom, and Nathan is the kind of guy every girl dreams of marrying.
‘If he really wants to settle down, let’s be honest. He could have anyone he wanted. I couldn’t believe he’d stick around for
someone like me.

Chapter 139
Over the years, I had lost all hope and trust in love. I never believed something like this could ever happen to me, non its a million years.
‘It wasn’t until after that accident, when Nathan finally poured his heart out to me, that it finally deened on me. He really did still care about me.
Ten years had gone by, and he’d really been waiting for me, all these years
Just thinking about someone like Nathan loving me for so long made my heart go all soft and gooey
“Even now, I still couldn’t quite believe any of this was real
‘If it weren’t for the warm, solid feel of Nathan’s hand in mine, I would’ve thought everything that’s happened larely was nothing but a dream.
When they got to her bedroom door, Eliana glanced back at Nathan. “Honestly, my room’s pretty plain. It’s not as cozy as you might imagine. I hope you won’t be disappointed.”
Nathan smiled softly, looking down at her. “How could I ever be disappointed? Anywhere with you feels perfect to me.”
He held her gaze, his smile deepening. And he said, “Actually, I like it this way. That way, our room has a lot more potential”
His words hit Eliana like a pebble dropped into her heart, sending waves through her chest and making her forger to breathe for a second.
Trying to steady herself, she glared at Nathan and mumbled, “Who wants to share a room with you anyway?
Saying that, Eliana hurriedly opened the door, just trying to dodge the topic.
She wasn’t kidding. Her room really was as simple as she said.
Spotless, organized, not a single thing out of place.
But for some reason, just stepping inside made anyone feel instantly at peace.
Watching Eliana hurry inside, Nathan quietly closed the door behind them and quickly followed her in
Eliana walked a few steps in and said casually, “It’s not a big room. One look, and you’ve seen it all, eyeb
As Eliana turned around mid–sentence, she suddenly found Nathan standing right there, barely an inch away from bre
Her words stuck in her throat as she instinctively leaned back in surprise, only for Nathan to catch her by the wake and pull her straight into his arms.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Nathan lowered his head and kissed her right on the lips.
Eliana’s face burned up instantly, and she instinctively tried to push him away.
But Nathan wouldn’t let go. He leaned in, his breath warm against her ear, and murmured. You knew I we you for ten years.”
“You have no idea how cute you were back then. Just one word from you and you’d blush all the way in yo
“Every time I saw you like that, it drove me crazy, But I held back, because you were just too sweet, as wel want you to get mad at me.”

Eliana’s ears went bright red again, her throat felt tight, but she still managed to whisper. “So now you’re not worried I ge mad at you?”
Nathan’s breath hitched, his voice husky as he said, “I’m still scared, but after ten years, I’m going crazy here.”
Saying that, Nathan pulled her even closer, looking her in the eyes, voice sincere. He said, “Don’t be mad at me, okay?”
As soon as Nathan said those words and saw Eliana standing there, stunned and breathless, he didn’t hesitate for a second He leaned in, closing the distance, and kissed her again, soft, deep, and full of longing.
Eliana’s heart turned to mush, and suddenly she was back in high school, remembering all those moments when Nathan would look at her, eyes blazing with emotion.
Back then, Eliana wasn’t clueless about what he wanted, but just like Nathan said, she’d been so well–behaved, so shy, she wouldn’t even dare to think about crossing that line.
But now, swept up in those old feelings, Eliana finally knew what it was like to share a kiss with someone you truly loved
Nathan had been yearning for this for ten years, so now he kissed her like he’d been waiting a lifetime, his arms tightening around her waist, holding her so close it felt like he wanted to make her a part of himself.
And Eliana, caught up in his passion, let herself get completely swept away by him.
It wasn’t until Sarah called out from outside the door that Eliana was jolted back to the present. She quickly shoved Nathan away, calling out a reply as she rushed to open the door.
But she’d barely taken two steps before Nathan pulled her right back into his arms.
Leaning in, Nathan whispered in her ear, “Tell your mom you’re busy.”
