Chapter 143
“Nathan Turner!” Eliana couldn’t help herself and pinched him.
She’d thought he’d go back to his own room in the middle of the night, but no, he just crashed right here.
“Eliana, are you up?” Sarah’s voice came from the doorway.
Eliana had to put her plans to scold Nathan on hold and quickly called out, “Yeah, Mom, I just woke up.
“Is it okay if I come in now?” Sarah asked.
When Sarah’s words reached her, Eliana felt as if her heart was about to stop.
“Mom, wait a sec, I’ll open the door,” Eliana said.
She scrambled to respond, but when she turned around, Nathan was just lounging there, looking totally unfazed.
Already pissed off, Eliana yanked him up. “Get in the bathroom and keep quiet, you hear me?”
Saying that, she rushed to get up and open the door for her mom.
But as soon as she got out of bed, Nathan grabbed her again. “The way you’re doing this makes it seem like we’re having an affair.”
Eliana slapped a hand over his mouth. “Just shut up!”
“Hurry up and get in the bathroom!” she said.
Seeing she was actually panicking, Nathan finally stopped messing with her and obediently went to hide in the bathroom.
Once he closed the bathroom door, Eliana finally breathed a sigh of relief and hurried over to open the bedroom door.
“Eliana, honey, are you alright?” Sarah asked, her eyes full of concern as she noticed the sweat on Eliana’s forehead.
Eliana hurried to reassure her, “I’m fine, Mom! Is something wrong?”
Sarah gently wiped the sweat from her daughter’s brow. “Good. If you get too warm at night, just turn down the AC, okay? Sweating like this can make you catch a chill.”
“You just recovered, so you really shouldn’t risk getting sick again,” Sarah added.
Eliana nodded obediently and quickly added, “Mom, how about you wait for me downstairs? I’ll change and be right there.
As soon as Eliana said that, Sarah suddenly remembered what she’d come in for in the first place.
“Eliana, Nathan still hasn’t gotten up. Maria went to wake him just now, but she knocked on his door forever, and there was no response,” Sarah said, sounding worried.
“I’m kind of concerned. Do you think he really drank too much last night? Maybe you should call him, or should your dad go check on him?” she added.
“I–I’ll call him,” Eliana said hastily.
But Sarah was still standing there, watching her. Eliana felt super nervous and quickly added, “Mom, don’t worry, he’ll be

fine. Just leave it to me, okay? You go ahead and get busy downstairs.”
“Eliana, Nathan’s a guest in our house. We have to take care of him,” Sarah said.
“Just call him already, okay? I won’t be able to relax or get anything else done until I know he’s alright,” she added.
Since Sarah had already put it that way, Eliana had no choice but to bite the bullet and dial Nathan’s number.
At that moment, she was genuinely nervous that Nathan’s phone might start ringing right there in her room.
Luckily, that didn’t happen.
She kept calling, but no one picked up.
Seeing how worried Sarah was, Eliana just felt totally helpless.
S
‘He’s literally hiding in my bathroom right now. How am I supposed to get him to answer the phone in his own room?” Eliana thought.
“He still isn’t answering. No, I have to get your dad to go check on him,” Sarah said.
With that, she turned and hurried downstairs to get Wesley.
Eliana didn’t dare waste a second. She flung open the bathroom door and yanked Nathan out.
“You need to get back to your room right now. When my dad comes up, just act like you just woke up. Say you drank too much last night and slept like a log, got it?” she hissed.
“And Nathan, if you ever pull something this unreliable again…” she added.
“Yeah?” Nathan looked down at her. “What are you gonna do about it?”
Eliana honestly couldn’t think of a single thing to say.
Her mind was a total mess from nerves, so she just shoved him toward the door. “Just go back to your room.”
Nathan’s eyes kept lingering on the mark on her neck.
Thinking about everything that happened last night, he was in an unusually good mood.
He really couldn’t bear to see her so anxious, so he obediently headed back to the guest room.
When Uncle Wesley rushed upstairs, Nathan did his best to look groggy and apologized. “Sorry, I slept in so late, Uncle Wesley.”
‘Guess I really can’t handle my booze. Must’ve embarrassed myself last night,” he added.
Seeing Nathan was alright; Wesley finally relaxed. At that moment, he naturally wasn’t in the mood to argue about anything Instead, he spoke up, “Nah, it’s on me. I shouldn’t have let you drink so much, the stuff was way too strong
“Anyway, as long as you’re okay. Come down for breakfast when you’re ready. Maria made you some warm milk, it help you feel better,” he added.
“Got it, I’ll change and head down,” Nathan replied, playing along.
Wesley nodded. “Alright, I’ll go down first.”

He walked over to Eliana’s door and knocked. “You hurry up, too.”
Eliana answered right away, but her face was burning.
She was washing up in the bathroom, and when she tied her hair up, she finally noticed all those hickeys scattered wom in neck and chest.
No wonder Nathan was giving those looks earlier.
Eliana took a deep breath, but her face just kept getting redder.
She quickly splashed some water on her face, hoping to calm herself down.
After she finished getting ready, Eliana went for a bold look she rarely ever tried, full–on makeup.
Honestly, it was just to hide those hickeys on her neck.
But if she piled on the concealer on her neck but kept her face bare, it’d look weird, so she had to go for a full–on makeup look she’d never usually wear.
When she finally finished getting ready and stepped out of the bathroom, she only to find Nathan still hanging out in her
room.
“Why are you still here?” Eliana grumbled, her teeth clenched in annoyance.
“Waiting to go downstairs with you,” Nathan said, his eyes roaming over her as he grinned openly, not even trying to hide it.
He knew perfectly well why Eliana suddenly went for such heavy makeup.
And knowing that just made it even harder for him to hide his amusement.
When she caught his amused look, Eliana could feel her face heating up all over again.
Good thing her makeup was thick enough to cover up any sign of her blushing.
“Let’s go,” Eliana blurted out, desperate to get moving before he could tease her any more, and hurried downstairs.
Eliana was naturally gorgeous, she could pull off anything, whether it was a subtle look or a bold, dramatic one.
With this heavy makeup, she looked even more commanding, and as soon as she stepped downstairs, all the staff couldn’t help but stare.
‘Miss Eliana, you look absolutely stunning today,” Maria blurted out, unable to hold back her admiration.
As soon as Maria said that, Sarah and the others all turned to look at Eliana, too.
