Chapter 148
Logan was so drained, he didn’t even have the energy to explain himself anymore.
He propped himself up, barely keeping it together, and followed to get into the car.
“Let’s go,” he said.

Hannah stared at him, her eyes still full of confusion and shock. “I’m asking you, what happened? Did someone beat you up? How did you get hurt like this?”
Logan glanced at her, impatience flickering in his eyes.
“Do you really have to keep asking me this right now? Here, in front of everyone?” he snapped.
“Aren’t you embarrassed?” he said.
Logan couldn’t hold it in anymore, all his frustration and anger finally spilled out.
“Check when I called you, and look at what time it is now,” Logan shouted.
“You really don’t give a damn about your own son, do you? That’s the only way you could leave me hanging here for so long.” he snapped.
“You’re always talking trash about Eliana, but all these years, anything I’ve asked her to handle, she’s never screwed it up.” he added.
‘So honestly, even Eliana cares about me more than you ever have,” he mocked.
As soon as Logan said that, Hannah was left standing there, stunned, her eyes welling up with grief.
‘So I came running over first thing this morning, all worried, and you can’t even say one good thing about it?” she choked
out.
Seeing Hannah still arguing with him over such things, Logan really couldn’t hold back anymore.
Every inch of him hurt, and he felt like some bones had been knocked out of place.
He honestly had no clue how he’d even managed to make it here, just barely holding himself together.
Yet even now, his own mom was still nitpicking him over all this.
Logan was done talking. He just slumped back in the car seat and shut his eyes, not even bothering to respond anymore.
But seeing Logan in such a state, Hannah felt even more upset. She couldn’t help but accuse him again.
Finally, the driver couldn’t take it anymore. He glanced at Hannah and said, “Mrs. Eliot, the young master looks seriously hurt. Why don’t we take him to the hospital first? We can deal with everything else once he’s recovered. Does that sound good to you?
After hearing the driver, Hannah held back her feelings, nodded, and climbed into the car after Logan
The driver rushed off toward Eliot Hospital.
But the whole ride, Hannah just wouldn’t let up, constantly finding fault with Logan.

First, she complained about him going off alone to some faraway place, then she griped that he never tells the family anything, not even when he gets hurt this bad. It was like he didn’t even care she was his mom.
The more she talked, the more Logan’s nerves were shot.
He knew his parents were pretty useless. Back when his grandpa said he had to marry Eliana as part of the deal before handing over the inheritance, all his parents could do was tell him to just go along with it.
He’d just gotten his heart broken anyway, so he figured, whatever, might as well marry Eliana.
After his grandpa skipped over his dad and picked him to inherit, his parents didn’t lift a finger to help. All these years, it’s been him, working his ass off, slowly but surely making his place in the family.
If anyone had ever truly had his back over the years, it was only Eliana.
And now, after one screw–up left him helpless, his parents wouldn’t lift a finger, not even toss him a dime.
Hell, they’d rather kick him when he’s down, just like everyone else.
Even now, with him this badly hurt, even the driver felt bad for him, but Hannah was still all complaints, not a hint of
concern.
Logan’s breathing grew heavier; he was on the verge of losing it, all his emotions barely held in check.
But he really didn’t have the energy to fight with Hannah anymore, so no matter how pissed he was, he just turned away, refusing to listen.
No matter how hard Logan tried not to think about her, scenes with Eliana kept replaying in his head.
Now those memories, her fussing over him when he was hurt or wasted, stung like poison, making him shiver.
All those little things he’d always brushed off suddenly felt priceless.
Just picturing Eliana treating someone else that way made his chest hurt like hell.
Logan had never felt this kind of pain before, it cut deep.
Lost in a haze of memories, Logan barely registered anything until someone started shaking him again and again. With a groan, he forced his eyes open, struggling to come back to himself.
“He’s in really bad shape, he’s got several broken bones. We need to get him into surgery right away, the doctor saud
“How could this happen all of a sudden? He was perfectly fine before this! Hannah cried.
“Mrs. Eliot, we’re not sure either, but we have to operate immediately. If we delay any longer things could get auch worse Broken bones might injure his organs, and that could put his life at risk, the doctor explained quickly
“Okay, okay just hurry, please, just save him! Do whatever it takes! Hannah pleaded.
Snatches of the doctor’s and Hannah’s conversation filtered through to Logan, and only then dut he truly realize just hots badly he was injured
Logan thought he’d managed to keep the whole getting beaten up thing a secret, but just une photo snapped by some passerby went viral, and now the whole world knew
Eliana found out about it when Irene sent her a link.

Irene: [Girl, this is pure karma. Ever since he ditched you, his life’s been a total train wreck, he looks so miserable now. Seeing him get what he deserves is honestly so satisfying.]
Eliana cracked up at Irene’s message before she even bothered to click the link.
Seeing Irene so thrilled, Eliana couldn’t help but get curious, just what had happened to Logan to make Irene this delighted?
She clicked the link, and even though she thought she was ready for it, when she saw that crystal–clear shot, Eliana’s eyes went wide, she couldn’t help but gape.
Logan looked like he’d been through hell in that photo.
After staring at the picture for a while, Eliana was sure of it, someone had definitely worked him over.
Who’d go after him at a time like this?‘ Eliana wonders.
It didn’t take her long to figure it out.
After hesitating for a moment, Eliana dialed Nathan’s number.
Nathan was in the car on his way to the office when Eliana called. A smile tugged at his lips as he answered, “Miss me already?”
Nathan struck without any warning, and for a moment, Eliana almost forgot what she was calling about.
After trading a couple of barbs with him, she finally remembered what she was here for and said seriously, “I need to ask you something.”
Nathan was in a great mood. “Go ahead.”
“Was this you? Did you have Logan beaten up like that?” Eliana asked.
