The caregiver perked up with real interest and couldn’t help but ask, “Then what? What happened after that?”
Eliana had long buried those memories deep inside, never wanting to bring them up again.
She thought she’d never think about them again, not for the rest of her life.
But now, in an attempt to comfort a stranger, she ended up talking about those memories she’d locked away for so long.
She’d been hurt so badly back then that when she finally woke up and realized she’d been rescued, Logan was nowhere to be found. When people told her that no one like him had been seen anywhere nearby, she believed them.
The doctor gave her a gentle, reassuring look and said. “Ma’am, please don’t be anxious. This is normal, just some confusion from the trauma. You’re stable now, but your baby is coming early, so we need to deliver right away.”
In a foreign land, after all the chaos, Eliana was wheeled into the operating room.
After everything she had just been through, and after using up all her strength to drag Logan out of the car, she had completely run out of energy, at this point, she no longer had the strength to deliver on her own.
She heard the doctors say they needed to do a C–section right away, that the baby might be in danger.
A flood of voices rushed through her mind. Eliana was filled with regret and fear, terrified for her baby’s safety.
At that moment, nothing in the world mattered more to her than making sure her baby survived.
So when the doctors explained what was happening, Eliana, with every ounce of strength she had left, reached out and grabbed a doctor walking by, pleading, “Please, save my baby.”
Seeing the doctor’s confusion, Eliana forced herself to repeat, “If anything happens, save my baby first.”
This time, Eliana could tell he understood, she saw the shock and disbelief flash across his eyes.
Alone in this unfamiliar place, Eliana knew that if anything went wrong during the surgery, there was no one she could turn to for help.
So she had to make her wishes clear. With great effort, she pressed her phone into the doctor’s hand and said, “After the baby is born, call someone named Hannah Wilson on this phone. She’ll take care of all the medical bills.”
“No matter what happens, make sure you save the baby first,” she insisted.
After Eliana said that, the doctor kept talking, but she couldn’t process a single word anymore.
When she finally woke up, she and her baby were both fine. But no one could vouch for her story about saving Logan. Everyone just said she was probably so desperate to help that she imagined the whole thing.
After barely surviving and making it home, nobody believed a word she said.
Hannah and Jack were furious, yelling at her for running around while carrying the Eliot family’s blood, saying she was completely reckless.
Eliana went through hell to save Logan, but in the end, not a single person praised her, all she got was criticism and disappointment.
Those memories were something Eliana wished she could forget forever, and she’d rather never mention them to anyone

She’d just kept talking because the caregiver kept asking, but now she really couldn’t bring herself to say another word.
The caregiver was getting really nosy now. When Eliana stopped talking, she immediately started pressing her for more, not willing to let the story drop.
Eliana started to sense something was off. The caregiver didn’t seem like someone who was really in distress at all.
Suspicion flashed in Eliana’s eyes. Just as she was about to speak, she heard someone on the other end announce that the police had shown up.
Eliana finally let out a sigh of relief. The caregiver, startled by the police barging in, hurriedly hung up the phone.
Logan’s eyes widened in shock as the police suddenly rushed into the hospital room.
Logan furrowed his brows, confusion written all over his face as he asked, “What’s going on? What happened?”
The officer looked at Logan and explained, “We got a report about someone attempting suicide. We traced the phone number, and it brought us here.”
As he spoke, he called out the caregiver’s number. “Does this belong to any of you?”
The caregiver’s face went ghostly white. She’d never been in a situation like this before and was scared stiff. She muttered under her breath, “Y–Yeah, that’s my number…”
The lead cop stepped right up to her, speaking seriously. “Have you talked about doing something to yourself lately?”
‘We got a call from a woman, and we recognized your voice on the line. Is there something wrong?” he asked.
They’d come to stop someone from doing something drastic, but seeing the caregiver seemed fine; the tension that had built up on the way eased a little. The officer spoke to her more kindly.
“I–I was just talking nonsense, really. I just wanted her to keep me company for a bit longer…” the caregiver stammered.
The caregiver was genuinely terrified now. With several cops suddenly in the room, she really thought she’d landed herself in big trouble. Her gaze turned to Logan, pleading for help.
She’d only made that call because of the cash Logan had handed her in the first place.
But if she ended up in legal trouble over just a few grand, that was so not worth the hassle.
Seeing the caregiver’s terrified expression, the officer’s gaze naturally shifted to Logan.
Logan frowned, but still spoke up, “Sorry, it’s all just a misunderstanding.”
“My wife and I had a fight, and she wouldn’t answer my calls. So I asked the caregiver to call her for me,” he said.
“I just wanted to hear her voice for a bit longer, so I asked the caregiver to chat with her. I never thought she’d start talking about ending her life, and I definitely didn’t expect my wife to call the police,” he went on.
I’m really sorry for making you come all this way,” Logan added.
As Logan explained, everyone finally understood what had really happened.
She’d only meant well, and neither the caregiver nor Logan had filed a fake report. So the officer didn’t make a fuss, he

simply lectured them not to joke about suicide to scare people again.
The caregiver kept saying yes.
Only after the police had left did she finally breathe a sigh of relief.

But once she calmed down, it finally dawned on her, Logan had kept telling the cops he was calling his wife. That meant the woman on the other end of the line was actually his wife.
So all that ugly stuff she’d just heard about… wasn’t it all Logan’s doing?
Thinking that, she couldn’t help but look at Logan with a bit of disdain in her eyes.
