Chapter 41
Nathan trailed after Eliana to the restroom, watching her clutch the sink and retch. He couldn’t help but frown, his eyes filled with genuine concern.
She obviously can’t hold her liquor. Why is she doing this to herself? Nathan thought.
Just as he was about to step forward, Aurora Eliot, Logan’s younger sister, came out of the restroom.
Seeing Eliana hunched over the sink retching, Aurora frowned in disgust. “Eliana, what’s wrong with you? You’re not pregnant again, are you?
“I heard from Mom you’ve been making a fuss about divorcing Logan lately. Honestly, I was surprised. You’ve been hanging around him for years like a stubborn gum. How could you possibly want a divorce?
“So, is it because you’re pregnant that you think you have Logan wrapped around your finger now? That’s why you’re so bold, right?” she scoffed.
Aurora’s disdain was obvious. “Eliana, let me tell you, your little scheme is doomed to fail this time.
“You really think throwing tantrums will make you matter in the Eliot family? You think as long as you’re carrying Logan’s baby, no matter how much drama you stir up, he’ll always take you back?
“Well, you’re totally wrong. Unless you properly apologize to my mom, this will never go away. Logan will never forgive you, and you’ll never be able to fix things with him.”
“Are you out of your mind?” Eliana finally interrupted, unable to listen any longer.
She hadn’t been paying attention to Aurora’s ramblings at all. The alcohol was really kicking in, and her head was spinning, making it hard to process anything Aurora was saying.
At first, she thought if she ignored her, Aurora would take the hint and leave, but instead, she just kept talking non–stop. Eliana was so fed up she finally couldn’t help but cut her off.
Leaning against the sink, Eliana looked up at Aurora, dead serious. “Go get yourself checked, you nutcase. Stop bugging me. Seriously, if you keep making that noise, you’ll regret it,” she warned.
Eliana meant every word. The alcohol had already made her head ache, and Aurora’s voice was only making it
worse.
Aurora was left stunned by Eliana’s words. Since Eliana married into the Eliot family, she had always been careful, never daring to speak up to anyone, especially not to Aurora.
Now, out of nowhere, she was being confronted like this. Aurora was furious.
Aurora had been overseas for a while and only got back yesterday. When Hannah was gossiping about how Eliana was acting like a whole new person, Aurora hadn’t bought it at all.
Now that Aurora had seen it with her own eyes, she had to admit that Eliana had really changed in no time at all. But she didn’t like it one bit. Without hesitation, Aurora raised her hand to slap Eliana.

Chapter 41
Nathan had planned to stay out of it, but seeing Eliana just standing there, not even trying to dodge, he finally couldn’t hold back and called out, “Ms. Eliot, what are you doing?”
Aurora froze, instinctively turning to see who had spoken. She was about to snap back, but the moment she saw it was Nathan, she immediately lowered her hand and put on a smile.
Realizing she might’ve just embarrassed herself in front of him, Aurora only felt more resentful toward Eliana. If it hadn’t been for her, she wouldn’t have lost her cool like that.
Trying to recover her composure, Aurora walked up to Nathan with a big smile. “Mr. Turner, what a coincidence. I just arrived and ran into you. It’s so nice to see you.”
As she spoke, Aurora offered her hand for a handshake, trying to look as elegant as possible.
But Nathan just gave her a cold look and ignored her hand, continuing, “If I’m not mistaken, you were about to slap someone, weren’t you?”
The moment those words left his lips, the chill in his tone was unmistakable. The sheer force of his presence made it impossible not to feel a wave of dread.
Aurora was taken aback by how intimidating Nathan suddenly looked, instinctively stepping back, her face turning pale.
“It’s not what you think. She’s my sister–in–law. She disrespected my mom, and just now she said something rude to me. I got so mad I lost control.
“I wasn’t actually going to hit her. I just wanted to scare her,” Aurora defended herself, desperately hoping to salvage her image in Nathan’s eyes.
Nathan had only been back for a short while, but his reputation had already spread like wildfire. Rich, single, and undeniably attractive, he was the most sought–after bachelor in Ockgend.
And Aurora was no exception. Especially running into Nathan like this was a perfect opportunity to get closer to him, and no way was she letting this chance slip through her fingers.
But when Aurora looked up at Nathan, all she saw was disdain in his eyes. Her frustration grew, but she didn’t dare offend him.
Aurora was about to make some small talk to get closer to Nathan, but before she could say anything, she watched him head straight for Eliana.
Eliana had just washed her face and turned around to look at him.
The alcohol was really getting to her, and she was unsteady on her feet. As she was about to look for something to steady herself, Nathan offered his hand, and Eliana instinctively grabbed his hand for support.
Aurora’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Eliana, what the hell are you doing? Logan’s at the party too, and you’re already cozying up to another guy? Do you even care about him?”
Finally, a bit more sober, Eliana looked at Aurora and said seriously, “As my soon–to–be ex–husband?”
