Nathan’s assistant Bobby was standing beside Nathan, so he heard everything Eliana said.

When Bobby shot Nathan a questioning look, he nodded. But after hanging up, Nathan couldn’t help but feel unsettled inside.
‘Aurora just told me she was pregnant yesterday, and now she’s already at the hospital? Is that really just a coincidence?‘ Nathan thought.
The more his thoughts tangled up, the more restless he felt. Nathan put down his pen abruptly.
The marketing manager flinched, thinking he must’ve screwed up again. He nervously asked in a low voice, “Mr. Turner, is there something wrong?
“If there’s any issue, I’ll go fix it right away. It’ll be done in no time, I promise nothing will go wrong.
Nathan picked up the pen, and quickly signed the document. “No problem. Go ahead and handle things.”
The marketing manager sighed in relief, grabbed the papers, and hurried out.
Once the manager was gone, Nathan looked up at Bobby. “When Eliana gets here, take her to the lounge and let her wait there.”
Bobby nodded right away. He knew that every Friday at ten in the morning was when Nathan had his regular call, and no one was allowed to interrupt him during that time.
So as soon as Nathan spoke, Bobby headed out and took a seat at the desk by the door.
Just after ten, Eliana showed up, just as expected.
Seeing her rush over, looking apologetic, Bobby quickly stood up. “Ms. Lyons, Mr. Turner is busy at the moment. If you could come with me.”
Eliana nodded without saying much and followed Bobby to the lounge.
Eliana ended up waiting for nearly forty minutes. But knowing Nathan was probably swamped, she didn’t mind at all. As long as the investment deal went through, she was happy to wait.
However, since she hadn’t slept well the night before, waiting around was making her sleepy. Eliana got up to make herself a cup of coffee.
Seeing this, Bobby quickly said, “Ms. Lyons, let me handle that for you. I heard you were at the hospital earlier, so I wasn’t sure if you needed to avoid anything.
“That’s why I didn’t make you coffee. If it’s not a problem, I can make you a cup right now.”
Bobby’s words jogged Eliana’s memory. The doctor had said her ulcer was acting up and she needed to stay away from anything irritating for a while.
Eliana quickly said, “Thanks for the heads–up, Bobby. I almost forgot. The doctor did tell me to lay off coffee too. Really appreciate it.”
Just as Eliana finished speaking, Nathan pushed the door open and walked in. Hearing her words, his suspicions only grew stronger.
Watching Bobby make small talk with her, Nathan’s voice was icy “Bobby, you can leave.”

Bobby was genuinely surprised that Nathan had handled those complicated matters so quickly today. He almost couldn’t hide his surprise for a moment.
But he quickly composed himself and replied, “Yes, Mr. Turner
After Bobby left, Nathan didn’t sit down immediately. He walked over to the side and poured a cup of water, handing it to Eliana.
“Thanks,” Eliana said, taking the cup.
Nathan’s gaze remained cold as it lingered on her still–flat stomach. After a long pause, he casually asked, “So, what did the doctor say?”
“It’s nothing serious, really. Just means I can’t drink for a while,” Eliana replied, as if she were chatting with a friend.
The conversation started to drift, and Nathan’s emotions grew more conflicted. He gripped the contract tightly, his jaw clenched. After a pause, he said coolly, “So, following doctor’s orders, huh?”
He almost blurted out, ‘So, are you really going to keep the baby
But Eliana had no idea what he was getting at. After taking a sip of water, Eliana nodded. “Yeah, I should probably do what the doctor says.”
Nathan’s face was downright ugly. He didn’t bother asking anything else. He just pushed the contract toward Eliana. “Look it over. If there’s nothing wrong, just sign.”
He set the pen down in front of her, making it clear he didn’t want to waste another word on her.
Eliana could sense his mood, but she honestly had no idea what she’d done to upset him. Not wanting to dwell on it, she just let it go and started reading through the contract.
Normally, a contract signing for a project this big wouldn’t just be the two of them, but since Nathan didn’t mention it, Eliana didn’t want to make things awkward by calling her team over.
While she trusted Nathan’s character, she still carefully went through the contract, since this deal was no longer just about
her.
It involved the entire Lyons Group and the suppliers who hadn’t left yet, and everyone’s interests were tied to this agreement. Deep down, Eliana knew Nathan was still a businessman. She trusted him, but not without limits.
After checking every clause and ensuring everything was fine, Eliana picked up the pen and signed her name carefully. Then she stamped the official seal on the document.
After finishing everything, she passed the contract to Nathan. “Mr. Turner, please.”
Nathan looked at her, wanting to get a rise out of her, but when the words almost came out, he swallowed them. He just couldn’t bring himself to say anything.
That helpless feeling he always got around Eliana made him feel especially frustrated.
So he didn’t say another word. He just picked up the pen and signed his name without hesitation.
Even though Nathan seemed pretty reluctant, Eliana wasn’t about to let his attitude distract her. As long as the contract was signed and the money came through, that was all that mattered.
Once the funds were secured, the project could finally move forward, and she was confident she’d turn a profit soon enough.
So when she saw him sign, Eliana couldn’t help but feel a wave of gratitude. He really had pulled her out of a tough spot.

Seeing her leave without a hint of hesitation, Nathan lowered his head, bitterness twisting in his gut. ‘Was she really that over what we had back then?‘ he thought.
