Even though Eliana had decided to keep her distance from Logan and Samuel, the moment she saw that photo, her heart just plummeted.
After all, Samuel was her son. No matter how hurt she was, she just couldn’t turn a blind eye if he was in danger.

Isabella glanced at her buzzing phone and quickly said to Samuel. “Samuel, let’s keep this game a secret from your grandparents and dad, alright?
“Otherwise, they’ll think all I do is play with you and won’t let me look after you anymore. I’m going to answer your dad’s call now. If he asks, just tell him we’re at the library reading, okay?”
Samuel nodded eagerly.
Seeing him agree, Isabella picked up the phone and said, “Hey, Logan, what’s up?”
“Isabella, is Samuel with you right now? Where are you?” Logan asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
Even though he didn’t really buy Eliana’s story, when it came to Samuel, he couldn’t afford to take any chances. He had to make sure Samuel was safe before he could relax.
“Yeah, Samuel’s with me. We’re at the library, and I’m reading picture books with him. What’s up?” Isabella replied, playing dumb. She figured Logan’s sudden call was probably about Eliana, but she kept up the act.

Isabella felt a pang of discomfort. It was obvious he didn’t trust her. But she couldn’t afford to dwell on it right now. “Of course,” she replied.
Saying that, she handed the phone to Samuel, giving him a meaningful look.
Samuel nodded, then lowered his voice and spoke into the phone, “Dad, what is it? Isabella and I are reading books in the kids‘ reading area.”
When Samuel spoke, his voice sounded perfectly fine, and Logan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After confirming Samuel was fine, Logan didn’t say much else, just reminded him to stay safe and keep close to Isabella when they were out.
Although nothing had really happened, for a moment, Logan had been genuinely worried.
Just imagining something bad happening to Samuel made his chest tighten, so he couldn’t help but go on a bit longer than usual.
Samuel patiently listened, nodding in response and promising to stick with Isabella.
After hanging up, Logan chuckled to himself.
‘All that drama from Eliana, just because she wants to see Samuel. She actually made up such a wild story just to see him? She’s getting more and more ridiculous,‘ he scoffed inwardly.
As these thoughts ran through his mind, the heaviness in his chest started to fade.
‘As long as she still cares about Samuel, she’ll end up coming back to me. Looks like I was stressing for nothing. Let’s see how long Eliana can keep up the act this time,‘ he smirked.
Meanwhile, on her way back, Eliana’s phone kept blowing up with photos of Samuel.
In the pictures, he was placed in desolate, abandoned ruins, with some photos showing him in dangerously precarious positions.
Just seeing those pictures sent chills down Eliana’s spine. She couldn’t waste another second and sped up, heading straight to
the location.
