“Isabella… she… she was playing a game with me. I think she hid first and was waiting for me to find her,” Samuel said nervously.
Eliana listened to Samuel and looked up at the person standing in front of her. The person in front of her shook his head right away.
Clearly, Samuel’s vague words weren’t enough to prove Isabella was behind the kidnapping. The key evidence remained the testimony of the men who had tried to assault her.
Eliana let out a soft sigh but said nothing. She simply followed them back to the police station to cooperate with the investigation.
Logan heard the news and rushed over right away, with Hannah agging along since she happened to be with him.
As soon as Hannah spotted the scrapes and bruises on Samuel, she started accusing Eliana, not even bothering to ask what had really happened.
“Eliana, I knew you’ve been plotting this from the start. You just waited for us to let our guard down so you could take Samuel away. No wonder Isabella came back crying, saying you used your schemes to get him.
“Not only did you try to steal my grandson, but look at what you’ve done to him. A mother like you doesn’t deserve to raise a
child.
“Eliana, let me make this clear. With the way you are, the Eliot family will never accept you. From now on, you’re not Samuel’s mother, so just forget about it,” Hannah said coldly.
As she said that, Hannah scooped Samuel up and took him back.
Eliana had always known Hannah played favorites, but she never expected her to be this unreasonable.
Just because Isabella cried and played the victim, Hannah hadn’t even bothered to check the facts before launching into
accusations.
Even the cops nearby couldn’t take it anymore. One of the officers stepped in, stopping Hannah and explaining the situation to her.
“So that’s what happened. All those guys have confessed that they were acting on Ms. Isabella Hewitt’s instructions. We need Ms. Hewitt to come in and cooperate with the investigation,” the cop explained.
Meanwhile, Samuel, sensing something was off, became even more agitated than the adults.
He turned to Eliana, his brows furrowed, his face scrunched up in frustration. “Why are you picking on Isabella again? Isabella was just playing a pretend kidnapper game with me.
“We both said it was just pretend. Why do you have to make it such a big deal? You don’t want her to play with me, Why are you being so mean?” Samuel protested.
do you?
Eliana was stunned by his response, especially since she had just saved him from harm. Now he was blindly defending Isabella without understanding the situation. Her frustration boiled over.
She gave him a cold stare, gritting her teeth. “Samuel, you’re five years old. Don’t you know what’s right and wrong by now?
“You fell down, and she just walked away, leaving you all alone. And you still want to defend her?
“Did you ever stop to think what would’ve happened if we hadn’t found you? You could’ve been left there all by yourself, and nobody would’ve even known if you starved.

“How many times has she messed up like this? How many times has she broken her promises to you? And you still think she’s good to you?
“Tell me, what’s so good about her anyway? Is it just because she lets you eat junk food? Samuel, is that really all it takes for you to think someone’s a good person?” Eliana pressed.
As soon as Eliana finished, Samuel got really upset. He tried to hit her in frustration, but missed and nearly toppled over.
Hannah was startled and quickly caught him. “He’s just a child. Of course, he has his likes and dislikes. What’s wrong with that? You’re his mother, and you’re really going to argue with him over this?”
Saying that, Hannah pulled Samuel behind her, shielding him like he was her most precious treasure.
But Eliana’s focus was on something else. She had noticed something odd about Samuel’s earlier reaction. When he tried to lunge at her, it was clear he misjudged her position and almost fell.
Eliana ignored Hannah’s words, pointed to an object nearby, and turned to Samuel. “Can you tell what that is?”
The pattern wasn’t small at all. Anyone with normal eyesight should be able to see it at a glance. But Samuel just stared at it for a long time, not saying a word.
Eliana watched Samuel’s reaction. Right away, she realized he couldn’t actually see it clearly.
She turned to Logan and asked seriously, “When was the last time you took Samuel for an eye checkup?*
Logan’s brows knitted together, a clear sign he was unaware that Samuel needed regular eye exams. But he didn’t want Eliana to think he didn’t care about Samuel, so he just kept quiet.
Meanwhile, Hannah kept nagging, “Eliana, don’t act like you’re the only one who cares about Samuel. If Samuel needs a checkup, the doctor will tell us when to bring him in. We don’t need you telling us what to do.”
Eliana didn’t bother responding to Hannah’s nagging. She turned to Logan again. “His eyesight seems to be getting worse.
“If you’re going to fight for custody, at least take care of him properly. You’ve had him for less than a month, and look at what’s happened to him.”
Logan felt a pang of worry, so he kept quiet and didn’t try to defend himself.
Hannah was about to say something else, but just then, Isabella was brought over. She instantly dropped Eliana and hurried over to back Isabella up.
“Don’t be scared, Isabella. It’s just some people trying to smear your name. If you didn’t do anything, she can’t pin it on you,” Hannah said.
Isabella gave a quick nod and headed in with them.
From everything Eliana had told them, it was obvious this whole mess was set up just to hurt her.
“I really didn’t do anything, I was just playing with Samuel. He kept asking to play cops and robbers, and I had no idea there’d be so many people hanging around.
“I wasn’t trying to hurt anyone, it just happened. Eliana was in on the game with us. How can she suddenly make it sound like I planned all this?
“She’s just trying to blame me. You should really check her out instead. She’s the one going way too far,” Isabella protested.
With Isabella still denying everything, those so–called “homeless guys” didn’t want any trouble either, so they all kept insisting it was just a prank on Eliana.

They never thought she’d show up with a stun gun, and now they were even trying to blame Eliana for the whole mess.
Just as the cops were about to keep questioning, Logan cut in.
