Chapter 58
After the car accident earlier that day, Eliana had a restless night
3.626
In her dream, the car came barreling toward her again. Even though there were people all around her, the car just kept coming, never slowing down, never swerving to avoid her.
Eliana watched as the car sped straight at her, trying desperately to dodge, but her body refused to budge.
She struggled with everything she had, but it was like she was nailed to the ground, completely frozen.
As the car sped closer and closer, Eliana’s eyes were fixed, heavy and unblinking, on the driver’s seat.
Seeing Isabella’s cold, malicious glare behind the wheel, Eliana felt her heart plummet and her throat tighten, as if she couldn’t breathe.
But there was no time to react. The car hurtled straight at her, and, overwhelmed by terror, Eliana jerked awake from the nightmare.
As Eliana sat up, the fear from her nightmare still hadn’t faded. She fumbled for the bedside lamp and switched it on, letting out a deep, shaky breath.
She stayed sitting there for what felt like ages, trying to steady herself, her heart pounding in her chest. Once she realized it was all just a dream, her nerves slowly settled.
That nightmare had completely robbed her of any chance of sleep, so Eliana just got up
instead.
After a shower to wash away the sweat from her panic, Eliana sat on the couch, her mind still haunted by fragments of that nightmare.
It had felt so vivid, as if she’d really lived through it. She couldn’t help but recall the car that had nearly hit her that afternoon.
If anyone out there hated her enough to actually try and kill her with a car, it had to be Isabella.
But a nightmare wasn’t proof. Fortunately, she’d already reported it to the police. Such hit–and–run cases weren’t hard to investigate. She was confident they’d find the driver soon.
With that thought, Eliana started going through the files on Seans company to calm herself down.
Even though Nathan said there probably wouldn’t be any issues, she still felt it was respectful to learn more about Sean’s
company.
Once she immersed herself in work, Eliana’s nerves quickly settled. Time seemed to pass in the blink of an eye.
It wasn’t until her alarm rang that Eliana finally realized what time it was.
After a swift routine, she was out the door in a smart outfit, with a touch of makeup and her files in hand.
As she walked into the elevator and was just about to hit the close button, Nathan held the doors open.
Eliana’s eyes widened in surprise when she saw him, but she managed a greeting, “What a coincidence, Mr. Turner. You heading out at this hour too?”
Nathan gave her a cool, indifferent look. Since waking up that morning, Nathan had kept his door half open, just so he wouldn’t miss any movement from Eliana’s side.
As soon as he heard her heading out, he walked into the hallway right behind her.

Chapter 58
Nathan always had a sharp tongue. He cared way more than he on, but somehow his words could always prish Elian** buttons
1 figured only someone like me, still muising an injury, would be sleeping in this late. Didn’t think I’d bump into you in the elevator. Ms. Lyons he teased.
As Nathan spoke. Eliana couldn’t help but glance at her watch was only 8:30. If she headed out now, she’d get there a inde after nine, right on time for a meeting.
It’s this early. The client might not even be at work yet. Is he seriously planning to drag them out of bed just to prove how committed he is? she thought.
But Eliana couldn’t be bothered to bicker with him right now. She just played along, “Guess I’ll have to start getting up even earlier, Mr. Turner.”
Nathan hadn’t expected her to go along with his words so obediently, and he glanced at her in surprise.
Eliana wore light makeup, but the shadows under her eyes were still visible. It was clear she hadn’t slept well last night.
Thinking back to what he’d just said, Nathan couldn’t help but feel a twinge of concern for her.
Just then, as more people squeezed into the elevator, Nathan shifted closer to Eliana, almost shielding her with his body.
Eliana was too busy worrying about his injured arm getting bumped to notice how intimate their position had become, her eyes stayed locked on his arm, not on him.
Once everyone had found their spot, she finally breathed a sigh of relief. Only when she glanced up did she realize just how little space there was between her and Nathan.
But with the elevator so crowded, she felt too awkward to ask Nathan to step back, so she just pretended nothing was out of the ordinary.
She instinctively lowered her head, and Nathan spoke up right after.
“Didn’t get much sleep, huh?” Nathan teased.
His voice came from above, low and a little teasing, and Eliana couldn’t help but pause for a second.
Thinking about how he’d just given her a hard time, Eliana replied, a little exasperated, “Yeah, I was worrying about today’s stuff, so I didn’t sleep well.
“But even then, in your eyes, Mr. Turner, I’m still not up early enough or taking things seriously. Maybe next time I should just move in right outside Mr. Bennett’s office and catch him the second he shows up.”
He could tell she was just teasing him, and a hint of a smile flickered in his eyes.
She was always quick with a comeback when it was just him, but put her in front of the Eliot family and she’d suddenly get all quiet.
But Nathan knew better than to bring it up. He just lowered his gaze and looked at her, his expression serious. Eliana heard Nathan’s soft chuckle, and her face grew warm. She just kept her head down, choosing to stay silent. Thankfully, the elevator reached the first floor pretty fast.
As Eliana walked out and saw Nathan coming after her, she put on her polite face and said, “Mr. Turner, where are you headed? Should I have my driver drop you off?”
Since he was still recovering from his injury, Eliana thought it was only right to let him take the car instead. She could just grab a cab herself.

Chapter 38.
Nathan finally gave her a serious look. Of course I’m here to see bean. Why else would I be here?
That was when it dawned on Eliana, he’d come for her sake, too. Her heart swelled with gratitude.
Having Nathan there made everything go way smoother than Elena ever imagined. They barely had to lift a finger before the deal was done.
And honestly, Eliana could see Sean was over the moon just to be working with Nathan. He kept promising he’d give this project his all and was already talking about wanting a long–term partnership with Turner Group.
Once Nathan gave the nod, Sean got even more fired up. He practically dragged them out for lunch, chatting nonstop, and only let them go after they’d eaten.
With the deal wrapped up. Eliana was just about to head home when, right on cue, her phone buzzed. It was the cops. They’d tracked down the driver who hit her and took off yesterday.
