Chapter 73
As Isabella spoke, the chill in Hannah’s eyes only deepened. “So, you were tricked too?” Hannah’s voice was icy as she spoke slowly. “Funny, that’s not what you told me before.
“What did you say again? Oh, right, you camped outside their house for days, barely sleeping, just to win them over. Only then did they finally agree to sell it.
“And didn’t you also say you saved their kid to get their approval? You nearly got yourself hurt, spent a whole day in the local hospital before you were back on your feet.
“Isabella, you told me all this just recently. Don’t tell me you’ve already forgotten every word. So now you’re telling me you got played too? Do you think I’m the one who’s dumb?”
Every word from Hannah was colder than the last, her tone growing icier with each sentence.
Isabella knew she was at fault. She wanted to argue back, but when she looked up and met Hannah’s eyes, her words caught in her throat; she just couldn’t bring herself to speak.
Honestly, she only had herself to blame. Back then, just to take credit in front of Hannah, she’d made it sound like she’d gone through a huge ordeal.
She even said she’d gone through all sorts of trouble just to find the right seller. Now, even if she tried to claim she’d been duped or had picked the wrong seller, Hannah wouldn’t believe her at all.
So now, with Hannah’s rant ringing in her ears, Isabella’s mind was buzzing. For a moment, she honestly had no idea how to explain herself.
After Hannah was done yelling at her, she glared at Isabella, who stood there with her head hanging low. She snatched something off the table and threw it hard at Isabella, then snapped, “Get out.”
Isabella hurriedly turned around and made for the door. But just as she was about to leave, she bumped right into Aurora, who had just come back.
Aurora recognized the outfit Isabella was wearing in an instant. She frowned and snapped, “Isabella, why are you wearing my clothes? Are you so broke you can’t even afford your own?”
As Aurora complained, she shot Hannah an annoyed glare. “Mom, are you just going to let her do whatever she wants? She’s actually wearing my clothes now. That’s so disgusting.
“She’s already worn them. Seriously, how am I supposed to wear them now? These are all my favorite outfits, and every single one is a limited edition.”
Hannah was already in a foul mood, so she just brushed it off. “When the new collection comes out, I’ll buy you some, okay? You have no idea what she showed up wearing today.
“If she wants to embarrass herself, that’s her problem, but I can’t let her drag me down with her. That’s why I had her wear your clothes.
“Seriously, I have no idea what the Hewitt family was thinking when they raised their daughter.
“They used to be high society before everything went south, but somehow they ended up with someone like her. She’s just embarrassing to even look at.”
As Aurora listened to Hannah, she could tell something was different this time.

Chapter 73
Back when Aurora used to complain about Isabella, Hannah would usually step in to defend her, and she herself would hardly ever say anything negative about Isabella.
Seeing Hannah this angry was a first for Aurora. Her eyes widened in surprise. “What’s wrong? Why are you so mad?
Hannah finally glanced up at Isabella, clearly not in the mood to say much. She just looked at her and asked, “Why did you suddenly come back at this hour?”
Aurora suddenly remembered her own drama and started getting worked up again. “Mom, what’s Mrs. Wade’s dealt i was out shopping with a friend, and she happened to be getting a facial there.
“We just bumped into each other. I saw her and greeted her politely, but she hit me with something like, ‘Girls your age should keep it real. Don’t try to fool people, not even your own mom‘
“I had no clue what she was talking about. I was about to ask, but Mrs. Bates chimed in, saying I probably didn’t do it on purpose, just that I’m too inexperienced and got played.
“She even said if I was as sharp as Mrs. Wade’s daughter, I wouldn’t have been fooled. Mom, was your afternoon coffee that awkward or something?
“Why were they so harsh to me? You have no idea how humiliated I was in front of my friends.
“And the craziest part is, I got embarrassed for no reason at all. I honestly had no idea what they were even talking about
As Aurora spoke, Isabella tensed up, her back stiffening instinctively. She’d still been simmering with resentment after Hannah’s blunt words, that frustration stuck in her chest.
But as soon as she heard Aurora’s story, all her nerves snapped. Her fear exploded into full–blown panic.
If she’d managed to leave a moment ago, it would’ve been no big deal. But now, Hannah definitely wasn’t going to let her walk away that easily.
Isabella’s heart was pounding with nerves, but she didn’t dare say a word. She just tried to shrink into the background, hoping she could quietly slip away without drawing any attention.
Isabella had barely taken a step when Hannah’s voice stopped her cold.
“Isabella, it was bad enough when you made me look bad, but now you’ve gone and embarrassed my daughter too? I’m not letting this slide,” Hannah said.
Hannah pointed at the jewelry set tossed in the trash can, her expression icy. “Aurora, this is all on me. I ended up humiliating both of us.
“I should’ve trusted you yesterday when you said something felt off. I honestly never thought she’d dare mess with me like
this.”
Hannah was so furious this time, she still hadn’t gotten over it. She was still shaking with rage as she spoke, her whole body trembling from how mad she was.
It wasn’t until Hannah pointed it out that Aurora realized the pricey jewelry set had been tossed straight into the trash. Her eyes widened in shock.
“Mom, seriously? How could you just throw away something this expensive?” Aurora said, unable to believe what she was seeing.
Her heart ached at the sight, and she instinctively moved to pick up the jewelry set from the trash.
