Eliana was so eager to get the divorce over with that she showed up at the courthouse super early

But when she got there, she realized she was way too early. There was still more than an hour before the time she and Logan had agreed on

Worried Logan might forget, Eliana sent him a quick text to remind him to show up on time

After sending the message, she found a seat by herself and just watched the people coming and going around

her

Most of the people here were beaming with joy, clearly here to get married. The ones scowling or downright furious were almost always here for a divorce

Scanning the whole courthouse, Eliana realized that people who were actually happy to be here for a divorce were a rare breed

Thinking about it, she had to admit to herself it was kind of funny, but the humor faded quickly, replaced by a sense of sadness

Honestly, unless someone had truly given up on Logan, no one would ever be this cheerful about ending a marriage

Back in her previous life, before she’d stared death in the face and truly seen Logan for who he was, if he’d asked for a divorce, Eliana knew she would’ve been a total wreck

The clarity she had had cost her everything, even her life

Still, she was lucky. No one in this world actually got a second chance

Lucky for her, she did

Eliana sat alone, her mind racing with memories from her previous life and this one. She found herself lost in thought, reflecting on everything she’d been through

She knew that even with a second shot at life, she was nothing special, just another regular woman. There was no way anyone could get every decision right

So, she’d learned to really think things over before making a move

But when it came to divorcing Logan, she’d never felt so decisive about anything before. Not a single doubt or regret in her heart

All she wanted now was to put as much distance as possible between herself and Logan, and to get as far away as possible from those pathetic, humiliating, dignitycrushing days

With all these thoughts swirling in her head, time just flew by

Before she knew it, an hour had passed, and it was finally the time they’d agreed on

But Logan still hadn’t shown up, and Eliana was starting to get impatient

She grabbed her phone and quickly dialed Logan’s number

Just as her call went through, Logan was still getting chewed out by Jack

After what felt like forever, Jack finally looked at him and said, Logan, the Eliot Group is the legacy our family built from nothing. I’m only handing it to you because you’re my only son

But that doesn’t mean you’re the only one who can sit in that chair

You’ve got plenty of cousins, and they’ve all been eyeing your spot for ages. They’re just waiting for you to slip up so they can take your place

So, Logan, put your energy into the business. Stop messing around and don’t turn yourself and the Eliot Group into a joke. You hear me

I’m not getting involved in this. You handle the crisis management yourself. If you mess it up and I have to step in, don’t expect me to save your reputation as your father.”

As blunt as those words were, Logan still listened

Logan left the mansion and headed straight for the Eliot Group

While Logan was driving, Eliana called him several more times

Logan took a moment to compose himself before picking up. Hey, Eliana, what’s up?”

His voice was strangely gentle, and Eliana found herself frowning hard

For a split second, Eliana almost thought she’d dialed the wrong number

She instinctively checked her phone to make sure, and once she confirmed it was the right number, she said, What do you mean? What’s up

Time to divorce. I’m already at the courthouse. When are you getting here?”

But instead of the reaction Eliana expected, Logan’s voice stayed easy and almost indifferent. Oh, that? Eliana, I’m not coming.”

He went on, I never really wanted to end things with you. Back then, I only agreed to sign because you were so worked up

I just wanted to avoid another endless fight, so I went along with it.”

I figured after a month you’d cool off, but I can’t believe you still want this.”

But I don’t. Eliana, I don’t think we’re done. So I’m not coming. Stop wasting your time there and come home. Samuel’s been missing you.”

Logan’s tone was so soft, it was like he thought this was just another little spat between them

Even the way he spoke was gentle

But as Eliana listened, she just felt a coldness settle in her heart

She took a deep breath and said seriously, Is this because of what happened yesterday? Are you just trying to get under my skin, stalling on purpose

But Logan, is Isabella really okay with you not getting divorced

Are you planning to just string her along, keeping things all vague?”

But as soon as she said that, Logan sighed heavily. Eliana, it’s really not what you think. I just think of her as a sister, but I just don’t get why you won’t believe me

But Eliana, I really don’t have time to explain right now. The mess from yesterday has blown up online, and I’ve got to get to the office and deal with it.”

Logan sounded completely unfazed as he said all this

But every word he said made Eliana’s blood run cold

She took a deep breath, trying not to convince herself that he was completely out of his mind

She knew Logan was doing this on purpose, so Eliana kept her voice steady and said, Logan, if you don’t come, that’s fine. I’ll file for divorce myself. If we’re separated long enough, the judge will sign off sooner or later.”

Logan sighed and hung up

In that instant, the smile on Eliana’s face vanished completely

The thing she’d been dreading most had finally happened. She slumped into her chair, feeling utterly powerless, desperately trying to think of any evidence that would make the court grant the divorce right

away

But no matter how hard she thought about it, all she could see was how stifled and powerless she’d felt in this marriage

And when it was finally time to end it, she didn’t even have a single piece of hard proof to show Logan was the one at fault

That realization just made her feel even more frustrated and trapped

She’d struggled so much in this marriage, but since it was finally time to end things, she didn’t even have a single shred of proof to back herself up

That was probably the most twisted genius of the whole Eliot clan.

They chipped away at her spirit, in all those subtle, hidden ways nobody else would ever notice, until she just stopped fighting back

Chapter 94

Just like before, up until her last breath, she was still being worn down by Logan and his father
