Chapter 98
After a few seconds of stunned silence, Samuel’s sobs grew louder, and he started crying even harder.
“Go away! I don’t want you! I don’t want you!” he wailed.
“It’s all your fault! If you hadn’t given me candy and taken me to eat all that junk, I wouldn’t have had to ger surgery, and I wouldn’t be in so much pain right now!” Samuel sobbed.
“It’s all your fault! It’s all your fault!” he repeated, his voice shaking with anger and hurt.
Isabella was about to snap at Samuel, but when she heard hurried footsteps outside, she quickly held herself back and started coaxing him softly.
So, when Sophie rushed in, all she saw was Samuel crying his heart out, while Isabella was gently coaxing him.
Even though Samuel was only five, he wasn’t stupid. The way Isabella was acting right now made his eyes fill with disgust, and he shoved her away.
He yelled, “Quit faking it! You yelled at me and were so mean! Go away! I don’t want you! I don’t want you!”
As soon as Samuel blurted that out, Isabella’s eyes grew misty with tears. She glanced at Sophie, helplessness written all over her face.
She said, “He’s probably just hurting a lot right now. It’s okay, really. I’m here, so you all can go handle other things. I’ll stay and look after Samuel.”
Sophie knew Samuel hadn’t been himself lately, but seeing him treat Isabella like this still caught her off guard.
But after hearing Isabella’s words, Sophie didn’t voice any doubts.
She just nodded. “Mr. Samuel is still in recovery, and the doctor did say it’s a rough patch. We need to keep a close eye on him.
“Ms. Hewitt, if you’re feeling tired, I can take over. Let me stay with Mr. Samuel.”
Honestly, Isabella really didn’t want to babysit Samuel, but since she still needed to win Logan over, she had no choice but to keep up the act and pretend to care about Samuel.
So when Sophie offered to take over, Isabella just forced a smile and said, “It’s okay. I’m not tired at all. I’ll look after Samuel.
“I know he’s not feeling well, and it’s normal for him to say things out of anger. I won’t hold it against him.
“Don’t worry about it, just go do your thing. I’ve got him covered.”
Sophie nodded. “Ms. Hewitt, just remember what the doctor said. He’s still recovering, so it’s really important.
“If you need anything, just let us know.”

Isabella was clearly annoyed and impatient as Sophie kept reminung her, but she forced herself to nod
anyway.
As soon as Sophie left, Isabella turned to Samuel, her voice low and threatening. “Samuel, I’m warning you one last time. If you ever act like that in front of anyone again, I’ll beat you to death. Do you hear me?”
As she spoke, Isabella reached out and gave Samuel’s waist a vicious pinch.
Samuel burst into even louder sobs, his wails filling the room.
Sophie was startled by Samuel’s sudden burst of crying and rushed back into the room.
But when she got there, she saw Isabella quietly trying to soothe Samuel, while he was still throwing punches and kicking wildly.
Even though Sophie felt a bit suspicious, she couldn’t spot anything off. She hung around the doorway for a bit, and when everything seemed normal, she finally turned and walked away.
After making sure Sophie had left, Isabella shot a cold look at Samuel. “Did you get what I just told you?
“You know you’ll end up alone with me sometimes. If you dare talk back, I’ll squeeze the life out of you.”
As she said, Isabella raised her hand, pretending she was about to pinch him again.
Samuel had just been pinched so hard it hurt like hell, and his little body instinctively flinched away. He was so scared. He didn’t dare make another sound.
Once Samuel finally quieted down, Isabella plopped herself onto the couch and started scrolling through her phone, relaxed as if nothing had happened.
All afternoon, even when the pain was unbearable, Samuel didn’t dare cry or make a fuss. The moment he saw Isabella sitting there, fear shut him up. He was too terrified to say a single word.
He kept up this silent suffering all the way until Logan finally came home.
After threatening Samuel several times, Isabella finally got up and hurried to greet Logan as soon as she heard him come home.
Logan was completely wiped out, and he really didn’t feel like talking to Isabella at all.
Isabella kept going on and on about how she’d looked after Samuel all afternoon, but Logan just replied with a cold, indifferent “mm–hmm.”
But Isabella was so eager to impress Logan that she kept talking nonstop, trying to get his attention.
Seeing how eager she was, Logan stopped in his tracks and gave her a serious look. “If you’re feeling tired, just leave it to Sophie and the others.
“You’re just staying here as a guest, so it’s not your job to take care of Samuel anyway.”
Sometimes, when you put people side by side, it really hits you how different they can be.

Chapter 98
For five whole years. Eliana had raised Samuel all by herself, handled everything like clockwork, never once making a big deal out of it, unlike Isabella, who was always trying to show off now.
Once Logan started comparing the two, seeing Isabella act like this, all he felt was pure loathing.
Isabella hadn’t expected Logan to react like that, and she just stood there, completely stunned.
But she quickly collected herself and spoke in a gentle voice, “I’m really not tired, Logan. You misunderstood.
“I just think Samuel’s been having a rough time lately, and we’ve already been taking extra care of him. I’m not complaining, really. I honestly don’t mind looking after Samuel.”
Hearing Isabella say that, Logan realized maybe he’d been a bit harsh just now. He replied quietly, “Yeah, I’ll be more careful.”
By the time he finished speaking, Logan was already at Samuel’s bedroom door.
Samuel was still just a kid, and after crying his heart out all afternoon, he’d finally worn himself out and fallen. asleep.
Logan walked over to his bedside, and when he saw Samuel’s puffy, red eyes, his brows knitted together in
concern.
But Logan didn’t say anything in front of Isabella. He just kept his tone casual and said, “You’ve been looking after Samuel all afternoon. Now that he’s asleep, why don’t you go get some rest?”
Isabella had thought that with Samuel finally asleep, she’d finally get her chance for some one–on–one time with Logan.
But seeing that Logan didn’t seem to care one bit, she didn’t have the nerve to push it. She just nodded and said, “Alright, Logan. Just let me know if you need anything, okay?”
Seeing Logan nod, Isabella felt a little deflated as she left the room and headed back to her own.
Right after Isabella left, Logan asked Sophie to come upstairs.
