Chapter 100
Christie’s POV
Lady Agatha’s hand swiveled.from a distance as she walked into the
kitchen, the water in the cup she was holding splashing in my face.
“You’re the Queen’s maid. You should know her whereabouts.”
“The Queen never fed me with information like that” My hands and
legs shook as I looked down, not meeting her eyes.
“So you are not her friend any longer? As her maid, you should be
able to know all about her, or who seems like a threat to her.”
I was silent. Freda never mentioned anyone being a threat to her, she
was not close with her pack, however, it was just mild arguments,
Freda never also mentioned her running away, she had expressed her
displease with being a queen a few times, but talking about King
Damien’s love for her confirmed that she still wanted to be here.
How then could she be missing her coronation?
Perhaps, she wasn’t saved. People who are against Damien becoming
King must have done something to her.

But that was impossible, Freda and her mate spent the night together,
if anyone were to attack her, he would have protected her.
“You are responsible for this, Christie. The queen missing is your
fault.”
I could not argue further. She was right. The maid to the queen
should have every information about her whereabouts and I didn’t
which made me guilty.
“Mother, I do not think Christie can convince the queen to tell her
direction if she doesn’t want to. How is she to blame then?” Elijah
walked in, already dressed in his attire for the coronation. His mother
turned to him, a smile curling her lips again.
“My son.” She took him in her arms. “You look good, Elijah.”
His eyes met mine and I looked away, embarrassed his mother was
scolding me.
“Take it easy on Christie, she knows nothing about this just like
everyone. I’m sure the king would find her”
Lady Agatha opened her mouth to speak but with a soft warning glare
from her child, she retreated, walking out of the kitchen. Elijah,
picking a tissue cleaned off the liquid still stuck to my face.

“A loving woman, huh?” I asked
He smirked. “Things are tense in the castle, I suggest you don’t…”
“The King requires everyone’s presence” a maid rushed into the
kitchen.
“I need to go Elijah.” I dashed out of the kitchen, but I could feel him following me behind. This was the wrong timing, I had expected him to be at the event today but didn’t know this phenomenon would take
place.
King Damien stormed through the grand halls, his usually composed face twisted in anguish. “Find her!” he bellowed, his voice echoing off the stone walls. “Search every room, every inch of this castle!”
Guards and servants hurried to obey, their faces pale with fear. He
had never been seen in such a state.
Where I stood in the throne room, courtiers and advisors whispered
among themselves.
“Have you seen Lady Freda?” one asked.
“No, I thought she was with the king,” another replied.

“This is madness. The kingdom will plunge into chaos,” a third
whispered.
King Damien’s emotion grew with each brief moment. He had always
been in control, but now Freda’s disappearance had shattered his
composure.
“Report!” he demanded, confronting the captain of the guard.
“We’ve searched the entire castle, Your Majesty,” the captain replied,
trembling. “Lady Freda is nowhere to be found.”
Damien’s face darkened. “Postpone the coronation,” he declared. “All
celebrations are canceled until Freda is found.”
Gasps and murmurs spread through the room.
“But, Your Majesty,” Lasy Daphne ventured, “the people are expecting
“I don’t care what they expect!” Damien roared. “No food will be
distributed, no markets will open, until Freda is back by my side.”
The room fell silent, with everyone exchanging worried glances.
In the corner, servants, and guards whispered.

“This is not the king we know,” one said.
“Queen Freda’s disappearance has agitated him,” another agreed.
“If the no–food rule is epitomized. This would be a breaking point for
us”
“It wouldn’t happen if the Queen is found, now move into every space
you can find!” Lady Agatha ordered, bowing her head as the king
approached us.
“King Damien, please, you must calm down,” she said, trying to
soothe his rage.
“Calm down?” he roared. “Freda’s gone! My queen, my everything!”
“We’ll help find her,” she promised.
“Christie, have you seen Freda?” He asked me for the umpteenth time.
“No, my King” I replied, trembling.
“Do you know anything?” He pressed his gaze on me. “Do you think
she left voluntarily?” He asked.
Lady Agatha frowned, interrupting “Unlikely. Lady Freda seemed

content. This feels… deliberate. Has she been taken by your enemy
my king”
King Damien’s head snapped. He turned to face the already rowdy
relatives. “No one leaves this palace till proper investigations are
done.”
With his gaze back to mine, he cornered his brows. “Who has Freda
talked about that seemed threatening?”
“Your Majesty. I do not know much information, but her best friend Kara knows everything about her, there must be something troubling
her before today”
“Kara insisted on the same thing…” he hadn’t finished his words when he walked over to Kara. I saw them have something like a heated argument and I feared the outcome of what this drama might cause.
Coronation postponed would make the whole town talk and they would voice out their speculation about the Queen, including news
that she was a hybrid and they would question her capabilities.
I looked at the faces of everyone gathered around like I was searching for a thief. If only, I could tell them from their faces, their intentions.
From Kara to Verestina to Alpha Winston and even Lady Amelia and

Uncle Kieran, did I fix my eyes but only one person returned my gaze,
a small smile on the corner of her lips.
Calm down, Christie. They are just suspicions.
