The first thing that came to my mind was if Lilly knew about this.
“Why?” I was able to finally mutter out. I have always done my best to avoid her in the castle, and aside from the first day we met, I have never bumped into her again. I had even begun thinking she had gotten used to the idea of never being able to have Damien, but now
I’m guessing I was wrong.
“Hmm, I thought I’d be coming in here to meet your dead body, it’s unfortunate you’re still alive, Father tell her why she’s here,” Verestina said sounding like a spoilt child.
“My daughter is going to be queen and therefore she is-”
“That’s enough Father I shall finish up the story,” Verestina lowered herself in front of me so we could stare at each other’s faces. I frowned, I was not at all fascinated by her face.
“See, I am going to kill you to become queen,” she said and I couldn’t
help but laugh, which was a mistake because I was hit hard across the
face.

“I don’t know who you think you are but trust me you don’t know who
I am” she spat out and I could do nothing but shed tears from the new
pain I was feeling on my cheeks.
“Damien will never let you become queen, he is not interested in you!” I spat out and for the slightest moment, I watched her snarky expression fall but just as it fell immediately it returned.
You poor thing, Damien was a good boy when I needed it. I know you can relate to that because everybody in the castle has to listen to you scream. It’s such a pity but I am not interested in Damien, I have better plans, even bigger plans, and you are what stands in my way achieving what I want, so to ensure that I am making progress eliminating you is the first step”

I never could stand that young brat, and I don’t know why you had to sleep with him in the first place, he should have died in that war” Lord Balen said and I could hear the anger in his voice, he has always been a trouble maker when Damien was concerned 1 just didn’t know it was due to hatred for him as a person.
“Damien would find out, and he will kill you, all of you” I screamed with my last strength, and Verestina and Lord Balen chuckled and I felt my stomach churn.

“Lies,” I muttered.
“We both know that’s true, it’s unto the next one for Damien, he was so in love with me until you came, there’s no stopping him from bringing in another once he doesn’t find you, he’s all after being crowned king and not after you, anyone would fit the position of being queen, like me,” Verestina said and I shook my head, they were lying, it was not true Damien wasn’t like that. I wasn’t even given enough time to think about what she said when I was suddenly pulled up by my hair.
“I cannot wait to have you dead. As you are a hybrid, that would be the easiest thing to do” she blurted. “Father, it is time,” she said, stepping snack for her father, whose sword glimmered in the dark as he approached me.
My body trembled. “Please…” I let out.
Verestina’s evil laugh cut through her throat. “Did you just beg?” She joined her father in laughing again. “Oh, this is better than I expected.”
“You want me out of Damien’s life, you don’t have to kill me.”

“Oh, we have to.”
“If Damien finds out about my death, you won’t live long enough to
enjoy your queenly benefits.”
Lord Balen placed the tip of the sword on my neck. “So what do you
mean, hybrid.”
“I would go far away from Damien and never come back. You can be
Queen then”
“You fool. Do you expect us to believe that?”
“You asked why I was lurking around the castle at midnight? Well, I didn’t want to be Queen either. I was planning to escape before my coronation. You only made it worse by putting this guilt on yourselves. I would have suffered the punishment and guilt alone if you had not thought of abducting me too.”
Their head shook, and both looked at each other for some while. Maybe they couldn’t figure out why I didn’t want to be queen or they thought I was lying to discharge myself.
“If only you would drop me out of the borders of this kingdom and let me go, you would enjoy your plans without hurting Damien and me.”

Veresrina pulled my hair harder. “What proof do you have to back up
your lies”
“They are not lies. I was waiting to get an address from my father
when I was taken.”
“Your father supports you not being queen?”
“We are not interested in the vampire kingdom like you people think.
I just want to be a free human, away from all of these” Hot tears rolled down my cheek.
Lord Balen and Verestina moved to a side and had a long
conversation. It was only their murmurs I could hear. I prayed
inwardly that they didn’t decide to kill me as I knew I wasn’t strong enough to protect myself.
Lord Balen walked back to me. “I will reach out to your father for the address and we will drop you off far away.”
“Father, let her make an oath of not coming back in here again`
“She will Tina, when I find out if all she was saying is true and her father knows about this.”
“And if this happened to be a trap
